( Unused Chapter) Extra

                                                                                               Memory

I am thinking of the last time I got in big trouble. I was nine at that time and I'm sure mom still hasn't forgiven me for that. I tried to make her forgive me, but I gave up a while ago, since it was eight years ago. The memory comes and I find myself remembering everything.

(remembering)

I am in the tallest tree and my mother is telling me to come down.

" Get down, Luna! It's dangerous!"

" NO! I have to prove Carlo wrong!"

" What does that have to do with this!"

" He said I needed defending and this will prove him wrong!"

" I'll tell him you did it and you'll get candy, but you have to come down in this instant!"

" Okay!"

I am climbing down, when a light branch breaks. I manage to hang on to a taller branch and tell my mother I can't get down.

" The branches are light!"

" I'll get a ladder! Stat still!"

" Okay."

I am obeying her orders, but then I see a shadow appear at the bottom of the tree. Whatever it was, it jumps up quickly and reaches my branch. Luckily, the tallest branches are heavy and don't break. 

" Hold on to me. I'll help you down, Luna."

" Who are you and how do you know my name?"

" I am a kitsune and I will always protect you. Now, you want to get down or not?"

" I do, but what how will I explain how I down quickly?"

" Leave that to me, don't worry. Now, hang on."

It looks like a fox in human in form. It was a boy that look about a year older than me. I am thinking what he is exactly, when I look down and see the ground. I hold on to him and he has me down fast.

I am impressed he could jump and land on his feet. He laughs, while I look at him with curiosity.

" I gotta go now. See ya later, Luna."

" Okay. Um, what's your name?"

" Damon, the future prince of the kitsunes."

" Okay, see ya."

He waves and runs away. My mother arrives and sees me waving at the empty road.

" What are you waving at? How did you get down without help?"

" A kitsune helped me, mom. He got me down. He said he would always protect me."

" Who helped you, sweety?"

" A ---"

" A kitsune isn't real. Who really helped you?"

I want to tell her she's wrong, but her expression says it's not the right time to do so. I sigh and come up with another excuse quickly.

" A kid around my age climbed up and told me which branches are easy to jump to. He grabbed me, when I was almost at the last branch, and we landed on the ground safe. He jumped easily and landed on the ground uninjured and he laughed. He said goodbye and left."

" Good thing he was here then. What's his name? I'll go tell tell his parents thank you later."

" Da---"

I am about to tell her, when I see a shadow at the forest. I recognize Damon and he shakes his head. I nod and he leaves smiling.

" Well, I'm waiting."

" I don't know his name. He never told me."
" Well, I hope he is still around here. We'll see if we can find him later. Enter now though."

She is happy I'm okay, but when we enter, the events return and she glares at me.

" WHY DID YOU CLIMB THAT TREE!"

" I wanted to prove Carlo wrong. I'm sorry."

" YOU ARE GOING TO BE WATCHED BY CARLO FROM NOW ON WHENEVER POSSIBLE, ARE WE CLEAR? Now, go to your room and wait for your father to come home. He'll be angry."

" Yes, mam."

I tried for months to make her forgive me, but I couldn't. I gave up after a while and made sure to never get in trouble again. That returned her trust, but that night, I ruined it.
