I watched the clock as the last minutes of the school day were approaching. I was actually looking forward to seeing Helen; maybe we could become best friends? 5...4....3....2....1...
RIIIIIING!!!!
The class got up in a rush. I headed to my locker, and discovered I was next to Helen. "Helen?"
"Becky? Isn't it cool we have lockers next to each other?"
"Mm-hmm... Where are we going?"
"Oh, I talked to Joe and Brian. We're gonna take you down to the Wharf, China Town, South Market, then we'll get ice cream!"
"Ooh! Sounds fun! But..."
"But what?"
"I have to ask my mom first to see if it's okay."
"Becky's a rule follower?" Brian asked coming up to me.
"If you follow the rules, people'll respect you, and take you seriously." I told him. Why did I get the sudden feeling Brian was a rebel?
"You guys ready to go?" Joe asked.
"Oh, Joe, this is Becky Donaldson. Becky, Joe Hackett."
"Pleased to meet you." I smiled.
"Same here."
I saw DJ walking by. "Oh, DJ, I hope you don't mind, but I'm gonna be with Joe, Brian, and Helen this afternoon."
"No, that's okay; we'll hang out tomorrow. Maybe you'd like to come along, Helen?"
"Really? I can come?" Helen smiled widely.
"Sure. I like you, Kimmy likes you; we're friends! See ya. Gotta go pick up my sisters." DJ smiled and waved.
"She called me friend; I think I might cry."
Aww!!
"Come on; we should go." Joe pulled Helen's arm.
"We need to stop by Becky's first," Helen explained.
"Why?"
"I just need to ask my mom first."
"Good. That's good. See, Brian? She asks before she does things."
"Shut up, Joey."

While walking to my house, I had discovered that Joe is very athletic, likes baseball, and loves airplanes. Brian is a real wild child, always disobeying, getting into trouble with his schemes and heists. I bet he'd get along with this Jesse fellow. Helen is fat, not chubby. She loves horses, plays the cello, and loves food.
"Here's my house."
"It's ginormous."
"When 12 people are living under a roof, it has to be ginormous."
"Twelve people? Aunts, uncles, and cousins, right?" Helen asked.
"Oh, no. My mom, dad, me, five brothers, and four sisters."
"You're parents have ten kids? How horny are they?" Brian asked.
"Brian!" Helen and Joe scolded.
"Anyway, my mom's probably in the stables."
"Stables?" Helen asked perkily.
"Mm-hmm. Wanna come see the horses?"
"Of course!"
I lead her to the stables.
