The next day, I couldn't the image of Jesse out of my head. During breakfast, I thought about him.
"So. How was your night?" My Mom asked, probably hoping for the answer "lousy."
"Mmm... it was lov—lonely. Very lonely." I stuffed some cereal in my mouth, hoping she didn't notice I was about to say lovely.
On the bus, I nodded and smiled, not really paying attention.
"Becky? Earth to Becky? Come in, Becky!" I vaguely heard Helen say. "Becky, Jesse's coming."
"Where?!" I looked around.
"I see I got your attention. Whatcha thinking about? Or rather, who?"
"I feel sooo guilty, Helen."
"Why is that?" Kimmy asked, turning around in her seat.
"Well, my Mom told me I couldn't see Jesse at all, but knowing how news travels really fast here, y'all probably already knew that. But despite that, he came over last night. Secretly."
"Ooh!!" My best friends exclaimed.
"Please, indulge in the horny details." Kimmy suggested.
"There was nothing horny about it. 'Cept for the fact that I totallly got turned on— twice. And he did, too. And his tight pants became even tighter, and now I can't get that image outta my head!"
"Why would you want to?" Kimmy wanted to know. "I sure wouldn't."
"Me, either!" Helen smiled; we all looked at DJ, waiting for her input.
"Guys, hello? He's my brother-in-law. Sure, I find him sexy, but isn't it weird to fantasize about your brother-in-law?"
We all nodded. "Yeah, I guess so..."

During math class, I wrote my name and Jesse's all over the paper.
Jesse and Becky. Jesse and Becky forever. Jesse—
I looked up; how do you even spell his last name anyway? Kat-sop-o-lis.... Is it with a c or a k? Is it phonetic? Or weirdly spelled?
"Rebecca?"
"Oh...uh... um... is it... seventeen?"
"Very good, Rebecca."
I smiled. Whew! That was close. I can't believe seventeen was right! I only guessed it cause that's how old Jesse is.... Jesse. Ugh! Why can't I get him outta my head?!

Lunch was rewarding; but went by all too quickly.
After sixth period, I saw Jesse slam his locker shut and give it a good punch.
"What's the matter, Jess?"
"Oh. Hey, Becks. Nothin'. I just learned I'm flunking physics and I need a tutor."
"Oh. Well, don't feel bad. Helen's tutoring me in math."
"Yeah, well..."
"Miss Donaldson?"
I turned around to see one of the seniors' teachers. "Yes, sir?"
"Would you come with me, please?"
"S-sure." I looked at Jesse and shrugged as I followed the teacher.
We walked into the teacher lounge. "Excuse me for being rude or forward, sir, but, uh. I-I. I'm sorry; what's your name, again?"
"No need to feel sorry. I'm Jack Tanner."
"Tanner? Any relation to DJ Tanner?"
"Yes, in fact, I'm her Uncle."
"Ah. So anyway, sir, you wanted to speak with me?"
"Yes. As you may or may not know, one of the seniors is having trouble with physics."
"Oh. No... I didn't know..." I looked behind me and lied.
"Well, I've been told you excel in the sciences."
"I dunno, sir. I mean, I can pass and all— thank you, sir!"
He smiled. "I'd like you to help this one student. Maybe you know him, maybe you don't." He wrote a name on a price of paper and handed it to me.
I looked at the name and smiled. "I know him, sir. We're good friends. Don't worry, I'll help him thrive."
"Thank you, Miss Donaldson. Here is a tardy pass."
I took it from him. "Thank you, sir!" I walked out of the office, a little perkier than usual. Now I really won't be able to get you outta my head....

"Jess!" I walked up to him after school.
"Hi, Becks. Guess what?"
"I get to tutor you!" I sang, smiling.
"I'm glad I got stuck with you. Not that I didn't wanna get stuck with you! It's just that—"
I giggled a little. "I know what you mean. If you've got to have a tutor, you'd rather have me as one rather than some blow hard, right?"
Jesse blushed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah..."
"Meet you at the mall? Say, five o'clock?"
"To study? Sure."
"Good! I'll see ya there!"
