I swung my leg off Jesse and told him, "go sit at the desk!"
Jesse listened as I told Connie, "Come on in, Con."
"Beck, what was that all about?"
"I don't have to tell you anything!"
"Jesse?"
"What?" Jesse looked up in surprise. I wonder what he was looking at?
"What's going on?"
"Nothin'. We were just talking." He shrugged.
"Hmmm.... well, okay. Anyways, Frankie wants to know if you're gonna finish your dinner cause he wants it."
"No. I'm not."
"Okay fine." She left and closed the door behind her.
"Whew! That was close. Not that we were doing anything..." Jesse came back to sit with me.
"Are you sure about this sneaking around?"
"Sure. We'll be just like Romeo and Juliet."
I smiled, "well....if you're sure..."
We were about to kiss again, when my Mom came in.
"Rebecca Donaldson! I told you not to see this boy!"
I looked at my Mom, not sure of the expression on my face.
She came over and grabbed my wrist, pulling me away.
"You!" Mom pointed at Jesse. "You, young man, stay away from my daughter! You're never allowed to set foot in this house again! Now go!"
Jesse left as he barely waved and mouthed, "Bye."
"Bye," I mouthed back.
"You're grounded, young lady. Nothing you like for a week."
"But, Mom! We weren't doing anything!"
"Stop it! You'll do as I say! Now you're gonna stay in here for the rest of the night, you hear me?"
"Yes..." I mumbled.
"Yes What?"
"Yes, Ma'am." I hung my head.
"You're sisters will bring up your absence with the horses."
"Huh!" I looked up. "Mom! You can't do that! They'll think I abandoned them!"
"You should've thought of that earlier. Now go to bed."
"It's seven o'clock!"
"Too bad. You're staying in here till morning." She left, thinking she was triumphant.
I sat angrily on my bed, crossed my arms, and started to cry, thinking things about my mom I really didn't mean.
I hate her! How could she do this? I'll never talk to that lady again! I won't smile at her or answer or call her Mom ever again! Not ever! I flung my face into my pillow, crying angry tears.
Suddenly, there was a knock on my window. I looked up and wiped a wiped a tear away. Immediately, I smiled and opened the window.
"Hi."
"You're crying? Why?" Jesse was back!
"My mom has official taken all the joy out of my life."
"Moms do that sorta thing. But remember what I told you?"
I nodded, still crying a little.
"Hey." He reaches up and wiped a tear away. "It's okay. We'll see each other at school on Monday, right?"
I nodded. "You better go, and don't come when my parents are around."
Jesse nodded. "See ya Monday?"
I nodded. "Monday."
"Bye, Becks."
"Bye, Jess." We kisses quickly, then I watched him leave. "See ya Monday..." I whispered.
