(1 year later)

Clark arrived at the Rogers mansion, dressed in a tux, a beautiful bouquet in his hand. Barry was dressed formally too, and held a gift box in his hands.

The two walked in, greeted by the servants and then proceeded to the stand with the other guests, all gathered to celebrate, the first wedding anniversary of Natasha and Steve Rogers.

"She looks beautiful " Barry said, looking at Clark with sad eyes.

"She always does" Clark replied, his eyes a little moist.

And she indeed did. In a nude, beaded  gown with fluttery sleeves and a tulle train, hair up done with a shining hair pin on the side, subtle make up, she looked like a fairy descended from heavens. Young and beautiful and happy. Happy, beside her husband, who held her hand, as they cut the enormous cake.

The crowd cheered, and Clark watched heavy hearted , as Natasha took a piece and fed Steve, which he took from her hand and fed her, both kissing passionately afterwards.

"I don't even understand the point of coming here" Barry said, turning his face to keep from looking at the happy couple.

"She is my friend. And she personally invited us" Clark replied.

"You must be Clark" a female voice made their heads turn. A young girl, who looked a bit like Natasha, stood before them.

"Yes, and you must be Nadia" Clark said, bowing, "pleased to meet you. This is Barry"

"Hi, Barry" she held her hand out for him to shake, which he did, "Nat is going to be thrilled that you made it. She was almost sure you won't come, given your work"

"She is the only friend I have, couldn't do that to her" Clark replied.

"Go, meet her then" she said.

Clark nodded and looked over his shoulder to see if she was free. She stood besides Steve but both of them talking to different people. Clark found the opportunity worth it, and smiled at Nadia, before heading towards Natasha.

"Her sister is just as beautiful " Barry said.

"Hold your horses" Clark frowned.

"At least she isn't married" Barry taunted.

Clark sighed and walked to Natasha, whose smile was brightened as she saw them approaching.

"Oh my God!! " she almost screamed, "you made it" she threw her arms up, hugging Clark. It was both awkward and disturbing, given the situation, but he couldn't be happier. He hugged her back.

"Happy anniversary " he said, parting with a half smile, and giving her the bouquet.

"Oh thank you" she said, "you sure  know which flowers I love".

"Happy anniversary, Nat" Barry stepped forward and handed her the gift.

"Thank you, young man" she kissed his cheek.

"Clark! " Steve stepped close to Natasha and his hand went to her waist. She turned her head to see him and blushed.

"Happy anniversary" Clark managed to say, and hold his hand out for Steve to shake.

"Thanks" Steve said raising an eyebrow.

"Guys, you carry on, I need to attend some guests" Natasha said, and kissing Steve's cheek she walked away.

"I thought you were headed for Germany" Steve said, standing straight, his hands in his pockets.

"Canceled last moment. Couldn't disappoint my only friend" Clark said.

"Yeah, friend" Steve said, "Better keep it that way"

"Depends on how you treat her" Clark said, in disgust.

"She has been very happy, especially on our second honeymoon last week" Steve said, "Now, please excuse me. I have to join my guests "

Steve walked away and Clark grit his teeth.

"What does he know? " Barry asked.

"Probably nothing. But he might have guessed something. Why else would I befriend his wife" Clark said.

"Be careful. You don't have much hope already " Barry said.

Clark nodded. They both took a seat by the bar, close to where Natasha stood, chatting with some women.

"When are we hearing some good news? " Mrs. Barton asked.

Natasha blushed and Clark's hand curled into a fist, "Soon, maybe.. You never know.. We" she but her lower lip, "we are giving it a thought.. I mean.. We are definitely trying "

Barry looked at Clark, who was in no mood to talk anymore.

"I guess, we should leave" Clark said after a while.

"I guess you should let go" Barry said.

"Its not easy" he replied.

"But what you want, is impossible to get"

"Nothing is impossible " Clark slammed his fist onto the marble top, and got up, leaving the house, Barry following him.

_______

Steve and Natasha were the centre of attention, when they danced on the slow beats of their favorite love song.

An year had passed, yet the beautiful phase of their marriage was still there. She still lived in her own separate room, but shared it when they traveled, or for any reason, stayed out of the house.

Steve was mostly busy, but Sundays, he spend with his wife. From morning to late night. He took her out, or stayed with her all day in his room, the night ending into a long session of love making.

Natasha had found a distraction too. She joined Clark's music school and practiced her ballet. She also learned to play the piano. Overtime, she became good friends with Clark. He had joined her for dance lessons often.

Steve had his insecurities regarding Clark but he didn't show them. He was happy that Natasha had something to do when he couldn't accompany her.

Natasha was too happy in her little bubble, she also expressed her desire to be a mother, and Steve agreed to try. She was off the pills and they went back to the island before their anniversary instead of after.

Was it her happily ever after or not? Only time would tell.
