Chapter 23: Pushing your limits

(Normal pov)

Whilst Hiccup and Berk prepared to assassinate Grimmel, back at the Hidden World, Toothless was shown all he needed to see within the vast underground nest. Berks former alpha turned to the Light Fury and warbled out to her.

::This place is... astounding doesn't even cover it!::

The Light Fury approached Toothless and nuzzled his face and cooed.

::It needs a true king, the alpha of my species has already crowned me Queen of the Hidden World. I would love to rule with you and your kind beside mine::

Toothless looked around the chamber they were in, there were coral and fungi mushroom stretching up the air with water falling down from the mushroom. Dragons were everywhere and going about their daily routines; hunting, ensuring that their safe haven is undisturbed and bringing back other dragons that are in need of a home.

::I have accepted the truth that We dragons can no longer live among our bonded Viking riders and allies, because humans like Grimmel would see to it personally that we're all dead::

Toothless sigh out as he turned back to the Light Fury with... regret in his eyes, but at the same time, accepting her invitation to rule this sanctuary beside her.

::I would be honored to lead beside you here in the Hidden World::

The Light Fury gave a satisfied smile and gave Berks former alpha an affectionate lick on the forehead and causing Toothless to give the wild and beautiful Light Fury a sheepish gummy smile. Thats when Toothless decided to dive down from the high ledge they were on and glided across the mushroom fungi which aligned all over the chamber they were in, the Light Fury followed him and soon enough the two Furies exited the Hidden World to spend time alone together. 

Toothless was aware of the Light Fury species scales were able to superheat when they fired their own plasma blasts and flew through the explosion. So, maybe Night Furies had a similar ability, deciding to test the theory, Toothless fired a plasma bolt and quickly pumped his wings to fly through it and closed his eyes. 

::I see you::

Turning to the Light Fury, the beautiful female cooed out to him, grumbling, Toothless inhaled sharply and tired again, but the attempt was fruitless. Sensing the Night Fury's disappointment, the Light Fury flew towards her respective sub species and cocked her head at him before warbling out. 

::Perhaps only Light Furies can perform this ability Toothless. I'm told the humans call your species the... 'Unholy Offsprings of Lightning and Death Itself?'::

Toothless turned to the Queen of the Hidden World and nodded at her question, before he could form a reply, he heard lightning, looking out in the distance, there was a lightning storm and Toothless smiled at the sight, he then pumped his wings and increased his speeds toward the storm, the Light Fury was by his side in seconds and she barked out over the thunder claps. 

::What is it you are actually trying to accomplish here Toothless?::

The future King of the Hidden World turned to the Light Fury and barked out over the clapping thunder. 

::I need to know if the Night Furies have any other abilities to combat against the Cabal and Grimmel::

Closing his eyes, Toothless inhaled sharply and suddenly the dorsal plates going down his back illuminated a deep blue and lightning crackled around the alpha Night Fury's body, shocking the Light Fury, then the lightning from the storm came down and crashed down on Toothless's body but instead of hurting the dragon, the lightning seemed to be... charging a power within the alpha male. Let out an ear piercing roar, Toothless then dazed forward and just... vanished. 

The Light Fury stopped and was looking around the clouds around her for any signs of Toothless, that was until she spotted Toothless reappeared again, small traces of lightning crackling off his body and he let out a small burp and his eyes rolled in the back of his head and he nearly passed out, due to the amount of energy that ability took. Quickly flying to the falling Night Fury, the Queen of the Hidden World caught Toothless and barked out. 

::Toothless! Are you alright? Can you fly?::

The alpha male groaned and shook his head before regaining his strength and letting out a dragon like chuckle before turning back to the Light Fury with a grin across his face. Deciding to push the limits of what was possible, Toothless spotted a sea stack and closed his eyes once more and inhaled sharply, once more lightning crackled around his body and he let out a mighty plasma blast that was combined with the lightning and the result led to the entire sea stack sinking to the bottom of the sea. 

::Most impressive::

The Light Fury cooed out in amazement and marvel, Toothless turned to her and growled in agreement before the two glided across the open sea and they looked up to see the Northern Lights lighting the night sky and reflecting against the water below them. 

::What more do you believe you can do?::

The Light Fury warbled out, Toothless turned to the female dragon and decided to see for himself, he summoned the lightning once more and flew high up in the heavens, and as he was flapping his wings, Toothless noticed shock waves going around him. Turning to the left, the Night Fury spotted a flock of seagulls and when he continued to flap his wings, the lightning struck the flock of birds and lightning crawled up the birds bodies like spiders and sent them all falling down into a watery grave. 

Toothless let out an exhausted breath, his strength was depleted from him entirely, granted this was the first time doing these abilities, it was no surprise to the Night Fury that it took a toll on his strength and stamina. 

::These new abilities will certainly be useful should we ever encounter the Cabal::

Toothless barked out as he descended back to the Light Fury's side, the two shared a warm smile as they returned to the mouth of the Hidden World and saw a massive cloud of steam rising from the mouth and ascending to the cold air. 

::Come, my king. Let us go home::

The Light Fury purred out as she grasped Toothless's forepaws and dragged him down the mouth of the Hidden World and causing the Night Fury to let out a surprised roar as they soon disappeared in the cloud of steam.
