Chapter 38: Finishing the war

(Normal pov)

"C'mon bud!! Give me all you've got!!!"

Toothless let out a mighty roar as he pumped his wings harder to catch up to Grimmel who had drugged the Light Fury and was currently flying the Hidden World's queen into dark clouds while lightning illuminated the clouds around them.

Grimmel steered the Light Fury into the storm clouds and did every thing he could to shake the pesky Hooligan chieftain and Night Fury alpha off his back, but to no avail.

Toothless's maw glowed violet as he then fired a plasma bolt at Grimmel, but the trophy hunter smirked as he steered the Light Fury to her side, causing the alphas plasma bolt to strike her instead of him. The Light Fury let out an agonizing cry and Toothless ceased fire immediately.

"How are we gonna get him off her back without hurting her?" Hiccup thought out loud, before Toothless could form a plan to hid his mate of the slayer of his kind, a series of roars were heard behind the Viking chief and dragon king. Turning around, the duo could see Grimmel's Deathgrippers caught and decided to join the party.

"This just keeps getting better." Hiccup murmured to himself as he then pulled out Inferno and let out Zippleback gas and ignited it, sending a group of the dragon killers back, while others evaded the explosion and continued to pursue. The Deathgripper who was blind in the left eye then fired rope after rope of its flammable acid at the duo, Toothless evaded the attack then decided to show the dragon killers a real taste of power.

Closing his eyes, Toothless channeled the lightning around him and when his body crackled and pulsed with lightning? He flapped his wings and sent out electric shock waves, successfully stunning three of the incoming Deathgrippers and forcing them to back off. Hiccup gasped in shock, awe and wonder at his dragons new ability. "Thats new." He said while chuckling lightly, he patted Toothless's neck and the duo continued to pursue Grimmel.

The speeds the two Fury's were traveling in were remarkable and it was difficult for the Deathgrippers to catch up, but soon? Hiccup noticed an incoming island coming into view. The same island they suffered their devastating defeat. Grimmel then steered the Light Fury down towards the island and started flying through the trenches and gorges.

Hiccup turned around to see that the Deathgrippers finally caught back up and were eager to take him and Toothless down. The head of the Deathgripper pack swung its jagged pincers at Hiccup, but he quickly ducked under the attack, Toothless snarled at the head of the Deathgripper pack and tail whipped the dragon killer across the face, sending the bigger and badder Deathgripper to crash into the wall of the trench.

Soon enough, two more Deathgrippers tried taking the duo down, but as a cave was coming into view, Toothless fired a plasma bolt at the top of the cave and rocks came crashing down on the two Deathgrippers. "Nice going bud." Hiccup praised his friend while patting him gently on the neck, the duo could see Grimmel and the Light Fury dead ahead and were getting closer and closer to getting the trophy hunter off Toothless's mate.

When they all exited the cave, a Deathgripper came out of nowhere and bulldozed right into Toothless, Hiccup yelped in surprise as he had to brace himself around Toothless since he was nearly hurled right off his friend. Toothless whipped his wing across their attacks face and continued to pursue his mate, but was stopped dead in his tracks as another Deathgripper grasped Toothless by the tail with its jagged pincers and driving the jagged ends into his flesh, causing the King of Dragons to roar out in agony.

Hiccup thankfully had a set of throwing knives on him, just in case things got a little dicy, thankfully now this counts as a dicy situation. So, Hiccup pulled out one of his throwing knives and hurled it at the Deathgripper restraining Toothless, the knife embedded itself right between the Deathgrippers eyes, and that caused the dragon killer to let go of Toothless and roar out in pain while trying to get the knife out of its flesh.
