She followed Reeve to a jeep parked just at the top of the hill.

In the distance, she could see a large shadow that resembled some kind of run down building, indifferent to the shadows, and an eerie feeling filled her as she knew something terrible had happened there. She paused, resting a hand on the jeep, and Reeve pulled open the drivers door.

"What about my wolves?" She suddenly asked and Reeve turned her head.

Reeve's impassive expression seemed to turn amused, "They will ride in the backseats."

"Won't that ruin your interior?" She glanced inside the jeep.

"No," Reeve pulled open the back door, gesturing to her wolves, "It wouldn't be the first time."

Her wolves looked up at her in question and she sighed. She still felt guilty as her wolves leaped into the jeep, settling on the seats, and she had to lift Thane's butt so he could climb in; sometimes she swore he was purposefully lazy just to make her pay attention to him.

She circled the jeep and climbed into the passenger seat. Reeve started the vehicle and turned around. She felt drowsiness take instant effect as the world beyond the jeeps window was dark and the headlights were almost soothing against the road they lit. She yawned.

"What about your wolves?" She asked, remembering the two black wolves who had been with Reeve.

"They are my acquaintances and they prefer to run." Reeve didn't spare her a glance.

She wanted to say something else. At least express how truly grateful she was. Part of her wanted to consider how insane she must be to climb into a vehicle with a complete stranger, but she somehow felt like she knew Reeve and her wolves didn't seem concerned one bit. Within ten minutes, the gentle hum of the engine and sway of the jeep lulled her to a sort of sleep, as if she wasn't already exhausted.

Her subconscience was twisted in worry and pain, rendering her in a half sleep that she couldn't open her eyes but she could hear the subtle noises of her wolves in the backseat. She could even feel her body swaying to the jeep but remained beneath the lapels of dark. Her heart ached sharply against her ribs and random thoughts flitted through her semiconscious mind.

She felt completely out of it and ill rested when her body jerked against the seatbelt and her eyes fluttered open. Blurry vision greeted her and she rubbed at her eyes to catch a glimpse of the wilderness laid out before the jeep, lit by the early dawn. She glanced over at Reeve, their eyes met in a brief glance, and then she marveled at the rugged forest that made the jeep toss like a boat riding giant waves in the ocean.

She turned in her seat and saw that her wolves had settled in the oddest of positions. Cross, Thane and Ever obviously got the sit on the seat and they watched her with smug grins while Skeet was halfway squeezed onto the seat by the drivers side. Arch and Lake were cramped on the floor between the seats, obviously the youngest and less dominant ones. She felt bad for the two of them as they gave her pleading looks but she simply reached out and pet their heads; some form of comfort that she hoped this trip would be over soon.
