She woke up.

A while ago, actually, and she never moved. She stared blankly at the ceiling, blind to what her eyes saw, numb to the war raging within her heart. She didn't know what to do, not anymore. The only person she had thought was safe turned into the very reason her life was a mess. The reason she almost died. It didn't make sense, it hadn't then and it didn't now.

Her father was dead. The single thought of him no longer being there would crack her heart for many days to come. She would never get to spend Saturday mornings in the kitchen with him again, or evenings curled up on the couch watching her favorite tv show. She would never hear him call her his snow bunny again. It was funny how the loss of someone so close could utterly confuse a person.

Skeet was firm against her side, the weight of his head across her stomach was probably the only thing keeping her from running away. The other wolves had woke at dawn, as they always did, and they knew she wasn't okay. They stayed with her until they eventually left for breakfast, but they returned shortly after. They laid across the floor, lifting their heads to check every few minutes. She was sure her unresponsive behavior was worrying them but she couldn't break herself out of it. She couldn't pretend to be okay anymore. Familiar cold seeped into her heart.

Cross sat on the floor at the edge of the bed, his head laid on the covers, and his intense brown eyes watched her. His nose was close enough to her exposed hand, she could feel every warm exhale, and then he gently tried nudging her. Skeet growled, a deep vibration that rumbled through her numb body, and Cross backed away.

She didn't know how long she laid in complete silence, cocooned in her blankets, protected by Skeet, but she finally heard her door open. She felt a flash of fear as she thought Reeve had come to try and clear up the water but Fox's voice calmed her.

"Mikica, we are leaving in an hour."

She unconsciously found herself replying, out of surprise, "Leaving?"

"We are visiting some old friend's of mine," Fox appeared over her, arms folded, "They are going to explain everything."

"What's to explain?" She mumbled, her heart clenching painfully, "Reeve is a murderer."

"No, this is misunderstanding," Fox stated, his voice sharpening, "You need to get up."

"No."

"It does you no good to lay there and drown in your own sorrow," Fox almost growled and her mouth tipped into a frown,"Get up."

A burst of anger suddenly heated her veins and she snapped her head towards him, "You can't tell me what to do. If I want to lay here all day, I absolutely can. Please leave."
