The nights that followed, she laid awake. Too afraid to close her eyes, too tired to do anything else. She listened to the gentle exhales of her wolves, at least they could enjoy their sleep at night. Every once and a while, she would receive a slight kick as one of them would dream and twitch, whilst Thane snored sporadically like a locomotive.

She watched dark clouds sift through the moonlight, hoovering above the darkened forest, and she would shiver every time a howl would trump the serenity. It seemed to be an ongoing case, as every night she heard several wolves within the forest. She almost felt trapped. Her wolves were unconcerned and it seemed that Reeve was, too. Maybe she was just overreacting.

By the crack of dawn everyday, her wolves would awake from their slumber and desire to be let out. They seemed to take an instant liking to Fox and she couldn't help but get the hunch that even her wolves knew something she didn't now. Ever since the morning they had went with Fox, they acted differently and there was something within their eyes. Now it seemed she was the only one in a dark box.

She spent most of her time exploring the gigantic mansion. The sweet twinge of rustic pine filled her nose and she found the smell calming. She would aimlessly wander the hallways, glancing at every polished door, and wonder what was behind them. At one point, she grew brave enough to open them, and the bedrooms that laid beyond were just as magnificent as her own.

She stayed away from Reeve's room and the offices, just as Reeve had requested, but around noon one day she ended up discovering a library. She fell in love at first glance, being a book lover herself. A crested, beautifully carved entrance welcomed her where shelves of colorful book spines lined the walls in layers. Comfortable chairs and lounges accompanied the open floor space. An archway formed over the double paned window and a window seat was snuggled against the glass. It seemed more like a bed, covered in an oversized soft brown blanket and big plush pillows.

For a brief moment, she imagined Reeve leaning against the glass, indulged in her favorite book while a rainstorm cascaded down the glass and rustled the picture perfect forest that laid beyond the other side of the glass. The more that she discovered, the more she realized that she and Reeve weren't that much different.

Speaking of which, she couldn't figure out where Reeve would go in the mornings. One time, she had caught Reeve leaving out the back door, and returned some hours later seemingly breathless. She asked Fox about it and he said that Reeve liked to run in the mornings, sometimes evenings. It seemed a bit odd since a jog in the forest didn't seem as appealing to her, but then again this was Reeve's home.
