"Fox, have you seen Reeve?"

"No, she's been out since last night," Fox glanced up at her from his seat on the couch, "She seems pretty upset. Did something happen between you two?"

"You could say that," She flopped down beside him, "But I don't know what. She just freaked out."

Fox's eyebrows shot up, "Reeve freaked out? About what?"

"My scar," She waved her hand, "She looked horrified and I'm really confused."

"She has a lot of scars herself, maybe it was an instinctual response," Fox hummed, scratching Thane behind the ears as the wolf practically leaned against Fox's leg.

"Maybe, but this just felt different." She said. She was haunted by the look on Reeve's face. The woman had been purely horrified and it was the most gratifying thing she had ever seen. Something had triggered Reeve, just like the wolves triggered her.

"What makes you say that?" Fox shifted through a few more papers he had been overviewing.

"I just felt it," She said, "I feel like I should know Reeve. Why?"

Fox's eyes snapped to hers and she saw the secrets in the depths of his eyes, "Normally, she doesn't have the affect on people," He glanced away, "But, maybe its just meant to be." She frowned. The last words he spoke were a lie, she knew it. Fox knew something.

Though, she played it off, "Yeah, maybe." Fox stared at her, now she was the one lying and he knew it.

"How about I make some lunch?" He cleared his throat.

She sighed, "Sure. I'll take my wolves out real quick."

"Don't get lost in the forest, okay? I don't want to have to come find you." Fox chuckled, walking over to the kitchen.

"Yeah, yeah, I'll stay in the yard." She couldn't stop the grin on her face.

She called to her wolves, who laid in various places across the living room space, and they instantly came to her side in excitement. She walked to the front door and opened it. It was the first time she had been outside, aside from last night, since she arrived and that was a week ago.

Her wolves leaped off the porch and trotted out into the yard. She followed with Skeet returning to her side every few moments, as if checking up on her. They all seemed overly excited, having her with them, except Cross. Cross trotted into the forest and disappeared without glancing back. Ever acted like he wanted to follow but decided against it and initiated a brawl with Arch.

They tussled across the grass and it reminded her of the peaceful walks she would take with them to the fields on the backside of her property. A nostalgia filled her. She missed the old farmhouse and its creaking floorboards. She missed the forest she knew so well because when she looked into the forest surrounding Reeve's home, it appeared hostile and unwelcoming despite its unique beauty.
