Third person POV
Cinder hopped from rooftop to rooftop, darting from shadow to shadow. She wore her black stealth clothing, and a black glass masquerade mask.
She saw her target ahead growing closer, the CCT.
She smiled, and leapt the last few rooftops.
Ehwaz's POV
Ruby and I ran down the streets of Vale. We lost sight of the shadowy figure, but their destination seemed clear enough. They were heading for the CCT.
We got to the tower and found two Atlesian soldiers laying by the entrance. I ran up and checked their pulse. They were alive. We heard gun shots and shouts from inside the tower.
We bust through the door and found multiple guards unconscious on the floor. Man, I hope their boss wasn't to hard on them for sleeping on the job.
The elevator was active and going up, so naturally, I began spamming the elevator button.
After about 35 button smashes later the doors opened with a cheerful "ding" and revealed two unconscious guards.
Me and Ruby entered the elevator and hit the top floor."What makes you think they are up there?" Ruby asked.
"If I were a bad guy," I replied, "I would probably want to go to the top of the tower."
"Seems fair," she said.We stood awkwardly in the elevator, weapons drawn, listening to some awkward elevator music for about two minutes.
Finally the doors opened with a cheerful ding and we exited, one of the unconscious guards behind us mumbling something about the Wi-fi password.
I looked around the room. We were in a room filled with computer terminals, probably for long-distance communication. One of them seemed to flicker for a moment, showing a...chess piece?
"Hello?" Ruby said.
"Anybody in here? You know, where they probably shouldn't be?" I said.A figure rose from behind the main terminal, and walked into the walk way, facing us.
She wore black glass heels, tight black pants and a matching vest. Her arms were bare and she had Dust containers strapped across her belt. She had long black hair and wore a black glass masquerade mask, so nothing could be seen but her....eyes. They.....looked cold and almost seemed to glow. I saw those eyes before.
"Hey, I like the look and everything, but you look very familiar. Have I threatened you before?" I said.
The woman's eyes grew wide with surprise. She pulled a Dust vial from her belt, opened it, and thrust it at us.
Ice Dust crystals shot towards us. Ruby spun her scythe and destroyed them. The woman pulled out two dual scimitars and rushed us. I blocked her attack with one of my swords and used the other as a gun to shoot at her. She backflipped twice and put her swords together to make a bow.
What the-? Was that Kuana's bow? No, this one was different, more sinister.
Her clothing glowed orange and she drew back three arrows in her bow. She fired the arrows and they exploded at our feet, throwing me and Ruby back. We landed on our feet.
The woman stared at me, her amber eyes seemed to burn.
Her amber eyes seemed to burn...... Oh. Oh!
The elevator opened behind us with a cheerful "ding". I turned to see the General from the other day standing there. I turned back to find the Masked Maiden was gone, and a window was broken. I ran to it and looked out. I saw the woman running down the street, pursued by Atlesian soldiers.
"Don't worry," said the General, "They won't get far. I do have some questions, for you two, though."
Ruby and I looked at each other, then at the General. How are we going to explain this?
Third person POV
Cinder ran down the street. She could hear the soldiers shouts behind her. She darted into a nearby door.
She pulled a vial of Dust from her belt, and poured it around her body. Her black stealth gear formed into a long black, open back dress. The strange tattoo on her back now visible. She opened the next door and dropped her masquerade mask to the ground, were it shattered to dust.
She was back in the Vital Ball. She disappeared into the crowd of dancers and looked behind her. The Atlesian soldiers burst in and looked around. Cinder smiled, she was invisible now. She turned back into the crowd and found Emerald and Mercury.
"May I have this dance?" she asked Mercury as she tapped his shoulder.
Emerald smiled, and headed to the punch table. Cinder and Mercury took dancing position and began to waltz.
"So," asked Mercury, "How has your night been?"
"Hmm... a little more... exciting than expected," responded Cinder.
"Should we be worried?"
Cinder though back, Ehwaz had recognized her. What gave her away? Was it her powers? No, he never saw her use them before.
"Cinder?"
Cinder turned her attention back to Mercury. He could see the uncertainty in her eyes. The eyes! Goddamn it! Her eyes gave her away.
"I think we will need to make a new change to the plan," Cinder said.
"A new change?" asked Mercury
"Yes, but for now, just enjoy the rest of the night. After all, this is a party," Cinder said with a sinister smile.
As she said that, the clock struck midnight, and twelve bongs erupted from the clock tower.
Ehwaz's POV
Ironwood stared out the broken window.
"I want you both to report to Ozpin's office in the morning, I think he would like to hear this," Ironwood said to us, "You may return to the dance."
Ruby and I looked at each other, and returned to the elevator. We entered and the doors began to close. At the last bong of the clock, I saw a terminal flicker with the chess piece of a Queen, and then the doors closed.
