We entered the office of Headmaster Ozpin and our breath was immediately taken away. The office was a series of moving gears, almost like clockwork, it was extraordinary.

"Please, have a seat," Ozpin said, gesturing to four chairs in front of his desk. We all took our seats. Ozpin sat behind his desk with a cup of coffee in one hand and a plate of cookies in the other.

He set the plate down and said, "Please, help yourselves. I made them just last night."

I looked at the cookies, him, my teammates, and back at the cookies. I hesitantly took one and ate it. It was good!! I took another, then a few more. And maybe one more. I stopped, suddenly self-conscious of my actions, and glanced a Ozpin. He simply smiled at me and nodded.

"So," Ozpin began, "I think some of you are rather impatient to be enrolled and join your fellow students, but I only have few questions that won't take but a little bit of your time."

"Of course," Lena replied, "Anything you want, just ask."

Ozpin nodded approvingly, "First question, what is the name of your school?"

"Ikaal," Lena replied.

Ozpin nodded. "Next question, why did you begin training as a huntsman and huntresses?"

Lena answered, "To stop death, to stop suffering."

Kuana answered, "To gain power, show all those bullies and criminals they are really weak and cowards."

Oris answered, "To gain knowledge, know how to stop what may hurt others."

Ozpin finally turned to me. I took a deep breath and said, "I want to grow. Grow strong enough to help others, to help those in need and who have been hurt and abandoned. I want to grow."

Ozpin stared at me with narrow yellow eyes full of mystery and knowledge. He then leaned back in his chair and said, "Thank you for your honesty. Professor Goodwitch is waiting in the elevator to escort you to your dorm. All of the guest dorms have been taken, so you will use a spare school dorm."

We all stood up and began to leave, but Professor Ozpin stopped me. "I would like to have a word with you," he said. I looked uncertainly at my teammates. "It will only take a moment," he reassured. I nodded to Lena and she nodded back, "Catch up as soon as you can." I turned around as the elevator door closed. And I was alone with Ozpin.

I sat back down as he steepled his fingers and seemed to be examining me. I sat awkwardly, not sure what to expect. He took a sip of his coffee before finally breaking the silence.

"Ehwaz. No last name. You have no family."

He wasn't asking a question, he was stating facts.

"You were found abandoned on the streets of an abandoned village deep in the forests of Vale. Nothing was found with you other than your tattered clothing and an old knife, pieces of which now reside in your weapons you call Star Breakers."

Did he have a point to all this?

"And just last night, you and your team were sighted by none other than our own RWBY at the loading docks in Vale, stopping a major Dust robbery."

I finally interjected, "I'm sorry if I come across as rude sir, but, is there a point to what you are telling me?"

Ozpin smiled, "Yes there is. I believe you are associated with a student of mine, Ruby Rose?"

He had my attention now. "Yes sir, we briefly met. She puts on a good food fight."

Ozpin continued to smile, "You then noticed something special about her, didn't you?"
"Yes sir"
"Her Silver Eyes?"
"Yes"
"You share a lot in common with her, you two are very alike."

My tail twitched in anticipation. "Yes?"

"I wish you to keep an eye on Miss Rose for me."

And right there was were he lost me.
"Huh?"

"I wish you to keep an eye on Miss Rose for-"

"I know what you said, but why?"

"Think of this as a favor for you and me. Do you have a problem with that Ehwaz?"

"I-" What could I say?
"No, Professor. I would be happy to do watch over Ruby Rose for you."

He smiled and said, "I knew you would say that. You may now join your teammates."
"Thank you sir"

I entered the elevator and hit the ground floor. The last I saw of Ozpin was him standing at his window, looking out over the school.

The doors closed and I was alone with my thoughts all the way to the bottom.

Why did he ask me? Of all people to watch after who was probably his favorite student. I was a Faunus, and a mutant at that. I was rejected. I had no mother, and my father never acknowledged me.

"You share a lot in common with her, you two are very alike"

Those words echoed in my mind. Were we very alike? And if so how?

The elevator stopped and made a cheerful ding before the doors opened. I was about to step out when my ears twitched. From person experience, that either meant I was agitated, or something that didn't want its presence known was nearby. I cautiously exited the elevator.
