Pyrrha has just finished her sparing match with team CRDL. Judging by the way the crowd was cheering, I think they either enjoyed the moves Pyrrha displayed, or they just liked watching CRDL get beat up.
"And that is the match," said Professor Goodwitch, "Well done Miss Nikos, you should have no problem qualifying for the Tournament."
"Thank you Professor," Pyrrha replied.Goodwitch turned to the crowd. "Alright. Now, I know that's a tough act to follow, but we have time for one more sparring match. Any volunteers?"
Four people to my right, a guy with silver hair raised his hand. "I'll do it," he said.
Professor Goodwitch looked over her glasses at him. "Mercury is it? Very well. Let's find you an opponent."
"Actually," Mercury said, "I wanna fight...him." He pointed to me.
I had been resting my head on my hands, so I immediately perked up, my ears alert.
"Me?" I asked."Very well," said Goodwitch, "Ehwaz, Mercury, make your way down to the arena floor."
Mercury and I made our way to the floor of the practice arena and now stood face to face. He had that smirk on that made his face look very punchable.
"Go Ehwaz!" I heard Ruby shout.
"Three, two, one. Begin!"
Mercury struck first. He rushed me, kicked up his right leg, and slammed it down on me, but I had already moved to the left. He threw a straight right punch at me, but I moved my head to the left. He then attempted to hit me with a spinning left kick, which I caught in my coat. I grabbed his leg and flipped him over.
Mercury rolled back onto his feet. His smirk was now gone. He kicked at me, activating his guns that were in his boots. I pulled out my gun and shot the bullet away. He smirked again and began firings multiple shots in every direction. The bullets began swirling around us in a vortex. Mercury rushed at me again and kicked at me with both feet. He probably expected me to block with my blades, instead, I ducked and activated my blades as he went over me. I sliced until he landed.
"And that is the match! Remember, the dance is this weekend, but you first mission is Monday!" Goodwitch said as the class dispersed.
I put my guns away and walked back to the stands as the class ended. I glanced back at Mercury, he still had a bewildered expression on his face. I guess he wasn't used to being beaten.
I found Ruby by the door waiting for me. We walked out.
Third person POV
Later in their dorm room...
"You what?" Cinder asked Emerald and Mercury coldly.
"We couldn't find anything on him," Mercury replied, "No name, no family, no birth, no records at all. He doesn't exist."Cinder frowned. "Doesn't exist?" she thought, "How?"
"What about his semblance?" Cinder asked.
Mercury shook his head, "He fought well. He is well trained in hand-to-hand combat. He only used his weapons when I used mine. He never used his semblance."This troubled Cinder even more.
"No semblance, no history. Is there anything we know about him?" Cinder asked."There is one thing," Emerald said suddenly, "He is always around Ruby Rose."
Cinder smiled, "Hm. Emerald, I want you to still try and get close to Ehwaz, but try and get close to Ruby as well. We will need her if our plan for Ehwaz is going to work. We have a fun weekend ahead of us."
Ehwaz's POV
I was helping RWBY set up for the dance, but I didn't really have a job, so I just sat bored at the table. Weiss suddenly slapped two pieces of fabric on the table.
"I need you, to pick a table cloth," Weiss said, and slid the fabrics over to me.I looked down at the fabrics. At first glance, I couldn't tell either of them apart. I looked again and saw one was plain white, and the other was white with faint indents of birds and flowers.
"This one," I said, pointing to the plain white one.
"Are you sure?" Weiss asked, kinda put out.
"Weiss," I said, "No one is gonna notice the indents at first glance. I would think it better to save the indented one for more fancy dinners, when fancy people can appreciate it."Weiss nodded and hung her head. She tromped off in the direction of the stage. Yang walked up behind me and dropped a speaker as big as she was on the floor. I jumped at the thump.
"So?" Yang said.
"So what?" I asked.
"Are you going to take Ruby to the dance?"
"Ah. Yes, in a sense."
"In a sense? What's that supposed to mean?"
"I got it planned out."
"You do? Tell me!"
"You sure?"
"Yes!"
"Okay. I plan to arrive at the dance a little bit after you guys. Knowing Ruby, she will be hiding over by the punch bowl. So I will walk over to her, out of the crowd, and offer her a dance. She will probably be taken aback by it, but let me take her onto the floor, where we will dance to some slow song."Yang stared blankly at me for a few seconds before her expression lighted back up.
"That's perfect! Did you think this all by yourself?"
"Kinda, I read it in a story book and I know Ruby is inspired by those."
Yang winked at me and we both looked over at Ruby, who was using the end of her scythe to pin up the streamers.Yang suddenly said, "Weiss! I though we agreed, no doilies!"
Weiss came over to Yang and said, "If I don't get doilies, you don't get fog machines!""Your dance is gonna have fog machines?"
I turned to see Neptune and Sun enter the hall. I flicked my tail impatiently. I still didn't forgive them for ditching us in the middle of a fight. They were off eating noodles, right were I thought they would be!
"We were thinking about fog machines, yes," said Weiss, blushing.
"That's cool," Neptune replied.
"So, you ladies all excited for dress up?" Sun asked."Laugh all you want boys. I'll be turning heads tomorrow night." Yang stated.
"So what will you two be wearing?" asked Weiss.
"Uh, this?" Sun said uncertainty.
"Ignore him," said Neptune, "For he knows not what he says."
"Well, you guys better find something for tomorrow soon." I stated factually.Sun turned to me, "Oh yeah? And what are you wearing?"
"That, my monkey tailed friend," I replied, "Is a surprise. Speaking of which, I gotta go check up with my team. See you guys later."I got up and walked out of the hall and to the dorms.
