Both me and Ruby returned to our dorms that night without a word. The entire walk, was in silence.
I could probably blame it on the events that transpired at the CCT, but I think it was mostly because of what happened at the dance. Not saying the fight at the CCT didn't bother me, it truly did, but what had overtaken me and Ruby took chief in my mind.
We reached the dorms and we stood there looking at each other. I don't think either of us knew what to do.
"Well, uh," I said, "Goodnight."
"Yeah," said Ruby, "Night."
We stood there a moment more before we went to our respect rooms. I got to my door but only stood in front of it. Now that I was away from Ruby, I began thinking more about the woman we encountered.
I knew her. I encountered her with Emerald and Mercury. I knew she was dangerous, but she didn't kill anyone. What was she doing? Was it for good reason?
I shook my head, too much stuff had happened tonight. I had to go to sleep, think about it tomorrow. Ah crap. Our first missions are tomorrow. It's just one thing after another.
I opened the door, and found Oris sitting on her bed. She was...crying.
"Oris?" I asked.
She turned towards me, and wiped her tears away, "Hey Ehwaz."
"Is everything alright?" I asked her.
She smiled and got up, "Yeah, I just need to go for a walk. Sleep well."
She walked past me and out the door. That was... interesting. I never saw Oris like that before. She never cried, at least none of us ever saw her do that. What happened?
I shook it off and walked to my bed. I stripped of my suit and neatly folded it and placed in my drawer. I put my pajamas on and climbed into bed and fell into a deep, troubled sleep.
In Ehwaz's Dreams
I felt my self running. I looked down at my feet and saw they were mine, but as a child. I looked around and saw Beacon, but in ruins. The Grimm were everywhere. There were screams, but I could not see their source.
"Ehwaz...."
I stopped and saw Ruby, she was kneeling, bloody and weaponless at the feet of a woman in a long, black dress, with pale white skin and red veins running across its surface. Her eyes were blood red, and she had long white hair pulled back into an six strand design.
She looked at Ruby and began to speak in a captivating voice.
"It's important not to loose sight of what drives us." As she said this my memories began to flash before my eyes.
"Love. Justice. Reverence." My three most sensitive memories stopped and played before me. My kiss with Ruby, my exile in the abandoned village, and my discovery of my semblance.
"But the moment you put your desires before my own-" The memories disappeared and she placed her hand on Ruby's head.
"They will be lost to you." Ruby's eyes turned glassy and rolled to the back of her head, and then she collapsed to her left.
The woman looked right at me. "This isn't a threat." She said this with an emotionless tone. "This is simply the truth."I woke up in a cold sweat. I looked around my dorm. The sun poured in from the window. My team was gone, probably at breakfast. I climbed out of bed and got dressed. I walked towards the door and opened it. Ruby was waiting there.
"Hey, Ehwaz," she said.
"Hey Ruby," I replied.
"So, ready to go to Ozpin's?"
"I guess."We walked to the elevator in silence. My dream replayed in my mind. I used to have dreams like this when I was in Ikaal, and I could tell Artaq about them. But Artaq wasn't here, Ozpin maybe?
"Ehwaz...."
My mind snapped back to reality.
"Yeah Ruby?"
"Will you... uh."
"Yeah?"
"Can I ask you..."
"Yeah?"
"Will you.....be my boyfriend?"I stopped and smiled. "Yes, Ruby."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Eeeeeeeehhhhhh!!!!At that moment Ruby tackled me to the ground and smashed her lips against mine. I kissed her back with just as much passion. We parted and looked each other in the eyes.
"Ahem."
We both looked over to our right and saw a tall man in a white shirt with a yellow tie and spiky green hair standing there.
"I believe it would be best if both of you proceed to immediately to Professor Ozpin's office," he said in rapid speech.
"Sorry Professor Oobleck," said Ruby.
"Doctor," he corrected her.
We both got off the ground and entered the elevator Oobleck just exited. We rode up the elevator, glancing at each other and smiling. The elevator opened. Ozpin sat at his desk flanked by Ironwood and Goodwitch.
"Please, sit down," Professor Ozpin said.
We sat down.
"Ruby, Ehwaz," Ironwood said, "I believe it is important to let you both know that what you did last night is exactly what being hunters and huntresses is all about. You recognized a threat, took action, and did the best you could."
"Thank you," we said.
"Now," said Ozpin, "The General has already informed us of the events that.... transpired last night. But, now that you two are well rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add."
"Was anyone with her? Did she look familiar at all?" asked Goodwitch.
"She had no one else with her," I said, "But she did look familiar. She had black hair and amber eyes. She fought with dual scimitars that turned into a bow."
"She fought with glass," said Ruby, "And her clothing lit up when she fought."
Goodwitch suddenly looked at Ozpin. "Save for the glass," she said, "That sounds the woman I fought the night we met Ruby."
The night they met Ruby?
"Infusing Dust into clothing is an age old technique," said Ironwood, "It could have been anyone."
"Wait," Ruby suddenly said, "Do you think she is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?"
"It's possible," replied Ozpin, "But we still lack the evidence required to link the two together."
"Actually," Ruby said, "I remember her saying something about a hideout or something in the Southeast, just outside the Kingdom."
I looked at Ruby. What was she talking about?
Ozpin smiled and said, "Thank you two for your cooperation. Why don't you spend some time with your teams? You have a big day a head of you."
"Anytime," said Ruby.
"Oh, and please try to be discreet about this matter," said Ozpin.
"Yes sir," I said.
We entered the elevator and went to the ground floor. Ruby walked out but I stayed in.
"You go ahead," I said, "I need to ask him about something."
"Okay, see you later!" she said and walked away.
I rode the elevator back up and re-entered the office.
"Ehwaz," Ozpin said with surprise, "What are you doing back here?"
"I hate to bother you," I said, "But I had a dream last night."
The three teachers narrowed their eyes.
"What kind of dream?" asked Ozpin.
"It was a dream," I said hesitantly, "About a White Woman."
