Being undercover was bullshit. This world didn't believe women had a place on the battlefield, and to avoid blowing my cover entirely, I'm forced to sit back at the camp while my teammates run off to complete missions.
"But-- That's not fair! I can't miss out on everything!" Sora shakes his head at my argument.
"I'm sorry Rea. I'll make it up to you, The next world that needs us to disguise ourselves, I'll be the princess instead. I'll suffer through kicking back and doing nothing, just for you." He smiles brightly, encouraging me to laugh.
Eventually, I let out a small laugh and shake my head at him. "Alright, I get it. Just hurry up, I'm gonna be bored as hell." I smirk, "That's an order." He jokingly bows in response.
"As you wish, Dear Princess." He looks up from the bow, laughing lightly as he sees my smile.
"Arise, Brave Knight, you have duties to fulfill." As Sora stands, I lean back across the seat in the carriage, staring outside. "Maybe this journey wont be as bad as I thought."
Sora scoffs at my words, "Are you saying you DIDN'T think traveling with ME would be fun?" He puts his hand on his chest to exaggerate. "How incredibly rude. Are you sure you went to princess school?" He gives me a wink before stepping out of the carriage. "Be back soon, Rea."
"That's PRINCESS to you!" I shout as he walks away, seeing his shoulders shake as he heads towards the rest of the group. I sigh and close the door to the carriage. What was I going to do with myself for the next, what, hour they're gone?
"Hey-- I almost forgot" Sora opens the door and hands me his ipod with a smile "I didn't want you to die from boredom." I accept the dark blue ipod gratefully.
"Thank you so much, I wont break it while you're away," I begin untangling the headphones attached to the music player.
"Yeah, I know you wont, or 'Royal Princess' will get a royal beating." He closes the door and I feel my face heat up while I smile, he was thoughtful.
I place the white headphones in my ears and press the play button, a look of surprise coming to my face as 'Last Young Renegade' plays in my ears. He likes All Time Low? Kudos to Sora.
I happily tap my foot to the beat as I daze off, staring out the window. My musical ADHD kicks in and I scan through Sora's music.
"A Day to Remember... Go Radio... Mariana's Trench... Simple Plan..." I gasp "A Rocket to the Moon?! Oh my gosh..." I go through his songs. "Sora is my musical soul mate." I mumble, deciding it's best to just put the music on shuffle.
My feet are restless, and I leave my carriage to make my way to the edge of camp. I pull myself up onto the fence lining the grounds, taking a seat while I patiently wait for my teammates to return. I feel my head ache a little and I pull the headphones out, slipping the ipod into the tie across the middle of my kimono.
The wind blowing causes more sakura flowers to float across the air, creating an indescribable beauty. I gently slide off the fence and pick up a small flower, enjoying the smooth texture in my hands.
"Pretty, aren't they?" I look up and see Sora leaning against the fence while the rest of the group comes through the entrance. I nod, a little embarrassed he caught me dazing off at the flower.
"I was just thinking that they're Mikoto's favorite. She would've loved to see them decorating the scenery like this." I feel a frown become apparent on my face. Sora hops the fence and places a hand on my shoulder.
"We'll find her. I promise." I turn and stare up at him, giving a small smile before attempting to tuck the flower in my hair. I watch as it falls and quickly catch it in my hands. Sora laughs, taking the small flower and placing it in my hair for me. "There." He looks at me. "Beautiful."
