It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. It felt somewhat like being a princess, yet at the same time a servant to Maleficent. I had a large bedroom that seemed fit for royalty, yet the black lacey sheets and pillows seemed to push any idea of that away. It was dark, the only available light being the large window leading to a balcony which stared down at a wasteland and thousands of thorny bushes. It made me sick to my stomach.
"Enjoying your den of distastefulness?" I scoff into my lacey pillow, at least her other workers had a sense of humor.
"Hardly." I mutter before rolling over on my bed, stopping as I recognize the face. "You're that mermaid.. Cali." She nods and closes my bedroom door behind her. I pat a spot on my bed and she sits on the edge.
"Didn't you say you were happy before?" My heart drops and I hold back tears yet again.
"I did." She scoffs and stares me down with her pale green eyes.
"Then why are you here?" What was it to her? It's not like she actually cared, she had no idea who I was. Did she want to run this castle? Was she secretly against Maleficent?
"You wouldn't understand even if I told you.." I pull on one of the lace edges of a pillow. Cali nods and stares at the floor.
"Probably not... but I could try." I direct my gaze up to her. What was she planning?
"Tell me... Do you hate Maleficent?" Cali snorts and falls back onto my bed, her head facing me with a sarcastic smile.
"More than ANYTHING." I feel a smile almost curve onto my lips.
"Then why are YOU here?" She stares up at the canopy section of my bed, the lacey black mesh only giving a small visibility of the ceiling.
"Because I have to be." Cali's green eyes seem intense, it became obvious to me she was thinking hard about something. "For my brother.. my best friend." She fidgets with a necklace, twisting it with her fingers. "and to find someone very close to me." There was something about her that made it apparent she wasn't lying. She was just like me, caught up in a twisted story that Maleficent now wrote for us. "But what about you.. why are you here?"
"She took my sister." Cali turns her head back to me. "I was.. an idiot." I let out a sad laugh "She offered me a weapon that would protect me, and in return I had to stop someone. I was naive, I couldn't tell then how evil she was, how powerful she was." my fists clench "She took my sister away from me, and she vanished. I was thrown into a journey that I never would've had to face if I wasn't so stupid.." Cali sits up.
"So you don't really believe in fate, huh?" I roll my eyes and bring my pillow over my face. "So you don't think there's a bigger meaning why all of this happened? There isn't any other part of your story that makes you contemplate the reason you're here?" I pull the pillow off my face and shoot up.
"She has my parents too.." I snap my head to her "Tell me, how long have you stayed here? Can you tell me where my sister is? My parents?" The door to my bedroom opens and a heartless stands under the doorframe. I summon my keyblade and Cali grabs my shoulders, preventing me from getting up.
"Shadow! Get back here!!" A teenager comes in and scoops the small creature into his arms. He looks up to Cali and my heart stops.. was that?
"Rea?" The dark brown hair, the large green eyes.
"Hikaru?" He laughs and nods excitedly, I bound off the bed and nearly tackle him. "W-what are you doing here?!" He drops the small heartless and wraps his arms around me.
"Me?! What are YOU doing here?" He sighs "Forget it, that doesn't matter right now. Oh god, I've missed you Rea." I pull away and stare up at him, a large smile showing his perfect teeth.
