The Gender Reveal
Ellie's POV
We got to the park and saw that Jack and a few of our friends had already arrived. Jack had set up a white blanket and had smoke bombs waiting for us to pop. "Hey! It looks so great!" I said when I walked up. "Oh, hey Ellie!" She said. Nick and I were wearing white shirts and I was wearing white jeans, as was Jack. "We are just waiting on McGee and Delilah and we can start," Jack said. Kasie, Ducky, Jimmy, and Gibbs were all there already. Nick and I went over to talk to them. "I should film it so I can show my parents at Christmas. I'll go around and ask everyone what they think its gonna be," I said to Nick. "That's a great idea, babe," he said. He didn't call me babe often. I like it a lot. I pulled out my phone. "So, Jimmy, what do you think it's gonna be?" I asked. "Boy," He said. "Breena?" "Boy," "Ducky?" "Girl," "Kasie?" "Boy," "Delilah?" "Girl," "Tim?" "Girl," "Gibbs?" "Girl," "Nick, how about you?" "I gotta say I think it's a girl," he said. "I think it's a boy" I said. "So that's four for boy and five for girl. Let's see!" I said. I set my phone up to see us do the reveal. Jack handed us each a smoke bomb. "3...2....1!" They yelled. Nick and I pulled the pins and pink smoke came out. "I was right," went around the small crowd. "Haha!" Nick smiled. He pulled me in and dipped me down before kissing me. "Aww," a few of our friends said. He pulled me back up and hugged me. "I'm proud of you," Nick said. I hadn't really done anything yet. I turned off my phone camera and had Jack take some pictures of us holding the smoke bombs. "Congratulations," everyone said at the end. "Thank you," Nick and I said in unison. We laughed. We stayed later and helped Jack clean up. "Thank you so much, Jack," I said. "Oh, you're welcome. It was a lot of fun," she said. "I do agree," Nick said. We hugged before parting ways.
"I'm so excited," Nick said on the drive home. "We just found out we are having a baby girl and the deal on the house came through. This is all so perfect," Nick said. Wait, the house worked out? "When did the deal on the house work out?" I asked. "They called your desk phone this morning. I answered and they told me. I didn't want to tell you at work so I waited until now. Don't be mad," he said. "I'm way too excited to be mad. When can we move in?" I said happily. "Next week is ideal," he said. I smiled. "We better get packing," I chuckled. He rested his hand on my thigh. "You still don't look pregnant. Not like it's a bad thing, I just expected to be able to see the bump," he said softly. "I'm sure it'll come soon," I replied. We pulled into the small spot outside my current residence.
We walked in and I kicked off my shoes. I wouldn't be in this house too much longer. It was too small and I didn't want to raise my baby here. "It's only like five o'clock. Do you want to go to dinner?" Nick asked. "Sure. Let me go change then we can go. Is it a fancy place?" I asked. "Not too fancy. It doesn't matter what you wear. You'll still be beautiful," he said. I smiled as I turned toward the bedroom. Nick followed me, obviously needing to change too.
"This is really nice. We haven't really gone out to eat in a while. And definitely not as a date. We've only gone to the diner," I realized out loud on our way into the restaurant. "Well, you're lucky because tonight is Italian," Nick said. I giggled.
"Should I text the video of the gender reveal to Abby? I told her we were having a baby after I told McGee," I said. "I think she'd like that," Nick said, smiling. Then our food came out.
After dinner, we ran to the store and bought a bunch of moving boxes to start packing up the house.
I went to take a shower when we got home, but before I could, Nick stopped me. "Ellie, I just wanted to say how much I love you. I'm so incredibly happy that we are having a baby. I'm glad it's you and not any other person. You're so beautiful and you deserve everything. I know, this is random, but I needed to say it. I love you, Ellie," He said. I smiled before pulling him in and kissing him. "I love you, too, Nick," I said.
