The next morning
Nicks POV
Ellie had only been dealing with morning sickness for a week. I felt so bad for her, and there was nothing I knew of to help her.
"Hey, Palmer, did Breena ever deal with morning sickness?" I asked as I finished checking in with Ducky for the results of his autopsy. (A/N- let's pretend they forgot to tell Ducky, Kasie, and Jimmy since things are still on the DL) "Uh, Yeah. Why?" He asked. "Is there anything that can make it less awful?" I asked him. "Yeah. Lots of carbs and plenty of water should help. Or maybe ginger ale to ease the stomach. Why do you ask?" He said. "I've got a friend dealing with it," I said vaguely. We hadn't told them yet. Only the team knew because they had to know. He nodded and got back to work as I got on the elevator and headed back up to the bullpen. "What did Ducky have?" Gibbs asked me. I explained my findings- well, not those of the morning sickness remedies.
After Work
I dropped Ellie off at her place and told her I was running to the store. I was going to buy her some saltine crackers and ginger ale since it's supposed to help.
When I got back, I showed her what I brought. "I got you some crackers and ginger ale. They're supposed to help with the nausea," I explained. She smiled, "Thanks, Nick," she said. "You're welcome, B," I replied. I was glad to make her happy. "When are we gonna tell Kasie, Jimmy, and Ducky?" I asked. "Oh! I almost forgot we hadn't told them yet. I haven't been down in autopsy and I haven't really been to see Kasie either. I guess I'll tell them whenever I have the chance to," she said. I chuckled. "Want any of this now?" I asked her, gesturing to the snacks I brought home. "Sure," she replied. I brought her a bowl of crackers and a can of the soda. "Thank you," She said gratefully. I sat down on the couch next to her and put my arm around her. She adjusted herself to be comfortable.
A week later
"Are we gonna find out the gender when we get the chance?" I asked Ellie. "Do you want to?" She asked. "I don't know. I think it would make shopping easier and it would be fun to decorate the nursery to be perfect for our little girl or boy," I reasoned. "Yeah. But I kind of want to do a gender reveal. Like, pop a balloon or a smoke bomb. I'm sure Sloane or Delilah would do it for us," she said. "I like that idea. We should ask Sloane," I replied. We were on our way to an open house. We'd been unsuccessful in finding a place we liked so far.
"I loved that house," she said after we got in the car. "Me too. It was perfect. And we could stay there for a while. Several years. Raise our little baby there. And it wasn't terribly priced," I said. "I'll call the real estate agent and let them know we are interested," she said, dialing the number on her phone.
"He said we can put down an offer and hopefully we will get it. There are a few other people interested," she explained after hanging up her phone. I smiled. We drove to our apartment and I cooked dinner for us. "I need some of those crackers. I'm not feeling so great," she said as I was finishing up dinner. I grabbed her a ginger ale out of the fridge and handed it to her. "Thanks," She said, sitting down at the table. "Do you want me to make you a plate?" I asked once dinner was done. "Maybe just a little bit," she said. I spooked a little bit of chili into her bowl. She smiled when I put it down in front of her.
A few days later
"Knock knock," Ellie said, walking into Jack's office. Her door was open. "Hello, my favorite soon-to-be parents!" She said. "Hi," I said. "So, how can I be of service?" She asked. "We are going to the doctor in a few hours and we're wondering if we could have them email you the gender and we could have a little office get together this weekend and do a little reveal thing," Ellie explained. "I'd be honored!" Jack replied happily, getting up to hug us. "Thank you," Ellie said. "So I should be getting an email about it tonight and I have to keep it quiet until Saturday?" She asked. "Yep. I'll tell you the details like where and when tomorrow. Thanks again!" Ellie said, walking out. I caught a glimpse of Jack struggling to hold back a squeal as we walked out.
