A/N- I'm sorry it's taking a long time for these past few parts to come out. I've been trying to make them my best since these are the last few chapters of this book.
Ellie's POV
I focused on my breathing to try to calm my nerves. I was going to officially be a mom in an hour or two.
It was extremely calming that Nick was just holding my hand, gently rubbing his thumb on my hand. "Anything you need?" He asked. "Could you rub my neck?" I said. He started gently massaging my neck. "Thank you so much. For all of this. You could've left at any moment, not wanted anything to do with us. But you didn't. You stayed. And you helped me. You kept me happy and supported me. Thank you for that," I said. He smiled. "I wouldn't have this any other way. I love you, Ellie," He said. He leaned in and kissed me softly.
Another thirty minutes went by before the nurse came back.
Nick's POV
"Okay, you are 10 centimeters. I'll get the doctor in here and we will make sure the room is set up," the nurse told us.
Ellie was focused on her breathing, and to be honest it was kinda pretty. She always looks good when she's focused. It's almost a natural face on her.
"Should I call Gibbs and let him know?" I asked. Ellie simply nodded.
I pulled out my phone and texted Gibbs:Ellie is pushing
When the doctors finished doing everything they needed, the got Ellie ready.
"Alright, you're going to push for ten seconds when I tell you to. I'll count out loud. Just push as hard as you can," the main nurse said.
When it came time to start the first push, I held Ellie's hand with both of mine. "Good job, babe," I said.
Ellie's kept pushing for a while. She really was incredibly strong.
"You're almost there, keep going," the nurse said about forty five minutes after she started pushing. I had moved my hand to her collar bone, gently massaging her neck between pushes. "Cmon, Ellie," I'd say occasionally, along with other things. There were several groans and yells coming from Ellie. "Keep going, babe. You're almost there," I said. She kept pushing.
"I can see the baby's head," the doctor said a few minutes later.
"You're almost done, Ellie," the nurse said. Between pushes, all Ellie could do was smile. It was almost amusing that she could go from using every ounce of energy in her body to smiling and nearly laughing in a split second. "Just a little more," the doctor said.
Eight more pushes and things changed. We heard a couple cheers from the nurses and a small cry. The small cry quickly turned into screaming. "Ellie, I'm gonna need you to push a couple more times," the doctor said. And Ellie complied. "She's here," I said softly when the doctors pulled her out and quickly placed her on Ellie's chest while wiping her off.
"Nick, do you want to cut the cord?" The nurse asked. "Uh, yeah," I said, feeling a little flustered. This was the beginning of our family. I kissed Ellie's head and moved to the other end of her body to meet the doctor with scissors. He showed me where to snip and I cut the umbilical cord. Then i went back and looked at the two most important women in my life. "You did so good, babe. And you did too," I said to Ellie and our little girl. Ellie looked up and smiled. "She's perfect," She said. "I know," I replied. "Can I take a picture of this?" I asked Ellie. She nodded. I pulled out my phone and snapped a photo of Ellie and my new princess.
"Hey, Tim texted me about half an hour ago and said he, Gibbs, and Sloane are here in the waiting room," I told her. "You can go find them if you want. Tell them she's here," she said. The doctors took the baby and did all of their measurements. She cried the whole time. "Look, she whines like you!" Ellie said. I laughed. "Wow! That's low. But I'm glad you seem to still be normal," I said. She laughed. "I may be a mom but I'm not a different Ellie," she said. They handed the baby back to me when they were done.
I held her gently, supporting her head as Ellie had mentioned many times before.
"You know, we haven't named her yet," I said. "I think we should spend a few more minutes with her, pick her name, then tell them she's here," Ellie said. "I like that," I replied.
I held her for a while, admiring and memorizing every feature of her little face. "Hi princess," I said. "I'm your daddy. I'm always gonna love you. You and your momma mean everything to me, and you're always gonna know that," I said in a soft voice.
"She's gonna know Spanish, right?" I asked Ellie. "Oh most definitely. I'm even thinking about letting it be her first language. But she'll know both," she said. I smiled. "Thanks," i said.
I handed her over to Ellie and we just sat with our little girl for a little longer.
"Charlie," I said. "What?" Ellie asked. "Charlie. That's her name," I said. "I love that. But her real name will be Charolette," Ellie said. "Okay. What about a middle name?" I asked. "Elise?" She said. "I like it," i said. "Charlie Elise Torres," She said. "It has a great ring to it," I admired. She agreed. "I think we have a name for her," I said. Ellie nodded in agreement. "Are you ready for guests?" I asked. "Yeah. I think so," she said. "I'll be back," I said.
I walked out into the waiting room, and I was met by the rest of my team. "She's here," I said, beaming.  "Yay!" Jack said softly. Tim hugged me, as did Jack. Surprisingly, Gibbs did too. "Ellie said she's ready for guests. Follow me," I said, leading them to our room.
They all quietly entered the room and looked at Ellie and Charlie in awe. "Hi guys!" Ellie said happily, while still be really soft and quiet. "Meet Charlie Elise Torres," She said. "Aw," Jack said. "You guys can hold her if you want," Ellie said, handing Charlie to me. "Can I?" Jack asked. I handed her off to Jack first. "She's so precious," she said. After a few minutes, she handed her to Tim. "I suggest you cherish these little moments, you two. They grow up real quick," he said. Again, Charlie was handed to a new friend. Gibbs just held her, gently rocking her back and forth. Everyone in the room was looking at the two of them. "I guess I know who to call if she gets too fussy," Ellie said. Everyone laughed, which seemed to scare Charlie. Gibbs handed her back to Ellie. "We'll leave you three alone," Jack said, leading them out. My phone buzzed. "Your family just landed at Dulles. They are on their way," I told Ellie.
She gently scooted over before gesturing for me to sit next to her. "I love you, Ellie," i said softly, looking into her tired, loving eyes. "I love you too," she said. I leaned forward and kissed her lips gently. As if on cue, Charlie started crying as soon as we kissed. "What perfect timing!" I said. We laughed as Ellie prepared to feed our daughter. I looked away, feeling weird if I looked at her.
"You've seen them before, it's not awkward," she said. "Still, it feels weird," I said. "Well, get used to it. This is gonna be happening for at least another year," she said. I chuckled.
Soon enough, Ellie's mom and brother arrived.
"Hello, sweetie," her mom said. "Hey Special Agent Barbie!" "Hi," She said. "Hey Nick," her mom greeted me. "hey," I said. Hugs and handshakes were exchanged between the four of us before it became time for us to talk about Charlie. "So, does she have a name?" George asked. Ellie looked at me and smiled. "You tell them. It's your family," I said to her. "Her name is Charlie Elise Torres," Ellie said. Her mother and George smiled. "That's beautiful," Barbara said. "Thanks. Nick picked the Charlie part," Ellie said. "Can her grandmother hold her?" Barbara asked. "Of course," Ellie said, handing Charlie to her mom. "She is so precious," she said. George walked over and hugged Ellie again. He sat down in the chair next to us. "So, how ya feeling?" He asked. "I'm good. Definitely sore, but good," Ellie said. "How bout you, Nick?" He asked me. "Oh, I'm good. I couldn't be happier," I replied. He nodded. "Wanna hold her?" Ellie asked George. "Sure," He said, taking her from Ellie's mom.
Then it was Barbara's turn to talk to us. "So, was it hard?" She asked. "It was a bit rough. But I only pushed for forty five minutes," Ellie said. "That's good. Do you want me to stay in town for a little while to help out or anything?" She asked. "Not right now. Maybe in a couple of weeks when Nick goes back to work, but for right now I think we're okay. But be ready if I call you to catch a flight to help out," she said, chucking a bit. "I will be ready and waiting," she replied. We all laughed a little. "Nick, I'm sure you know where the closest vending machine is. Can you show me?" George asked me, handing Charlie back to Ellie. "Sure," I said, kind of confused by why he couldn't just go find it himself.
We walked out of the room and down the hallway. He stopped at the waiting room and pulled me to the side. "I wanted to say thank you, Nick. Ellie hasn't been this happy in a long time. I know this wasn't really planned, but I'm happy it happened. She's never very open with anyone, including John and Robbie. But she's more relaxed around you. She doesn't that look like she's trying to keep the dam shut like she used to for so long. Thanks for that, man. And congratulations, brother," he said. "Uh, Thanks. It means a lot that you like me. For a while, I was scared you and the rest of Ellie's family wouldn't like me because of what happened," I said. He smiled. "So where's that vending machine?" He asked. We laughed as I led him down the hall.
"We are going to go grab a motel room for the night. I know you said you don't need me to stay, but I want to see my granddaughter again before I leave," Ellie's mom said. "And I gotta see my favorite niece again too," George said. "She you're only niece," Ellie said. I chuckled.
Her mom and brother left, leaving just me and Ellie and Charlie. "So, how are you?" Ellie asked me. "Today was easily the best day of my life so far. I love you," i said. "I love you too. And i Love our family," Ellie said.
We just sat there with each other for a while, looking at Charlie as she slept peacefully. I looked at Ellie's face and noticed a few tears dripping down her face. I gently turned her chin to face me. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Nothing. Things are just so perfect. I'm happier than I've ever been," she said. I gently planted a kiss on the top of her head. "Our little family," I whispered.
