A week later
Ellie's POV
We had done nothing but work night and day since that first case. We were on our fourth case in a row, one was open and shut, another was just generally an easy one, but not easy enough to last less that two days, and this one seemed endless. It was our third day with no leads. Suddenly, Gibbs's phone rang. "I'll be right down, Kasie," he said as he put it down. Maybe we'd finally get something.
"Andrew Thomas, what do we have on him?" Gibbs asked when he got back from the lab. "Uh, he has a long record, a few interactions with our victim, and could've gotten his hands on the weapon. No motive, though," Tim said. "Bring him in," Gibbs said. "Texting you his location," I said as Tim and Nick walked to the elevator. I did as I said I would, then sighed. "Bishop, you alright?" Gibbs asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said. I heard him sigh.
Soon, the boys were back with the suspect. I took my seat behind the glass in interrogation, enjoying watching Tim and Nick try to crack the dude for a motive. "So, how are you, Ellie? We haven't talked in a while with all these cases," Jack said midway through the interrogation. "I'm doing alright. Always tired, emotional, and I can't sleep well. But it'll be over soon enough. Just over two months and I'll have my baby girl," I said. She smiled widely at that. "You and Nick are going to be the best parents," she said as the interrogation started. I kept thinking about that as we watched the suspect slowly start to crack under the pressure.
Later that night
"Jack says she thinks we are gonna be great parents," I said while Nick and I were sitting on the couch. "I agree," he said. I smiled. "Hey, I know it's still a little early to talk about this, but what are we gonna do when the baby is born? I mean, we both work long and unpredictable hours in a dangerous setting. What will we do with the baby?" I asked. "I don't know. I'm sure we will figure it out soon. We could talk to the McGees or Gibbs and get their opinion. Tim is the only one in a similar situation and Gibbs has enough wisdom to help. Whatever you're comfortable with," he said. "Okay. Thanks," I said. Talking to McGee wouldn't be a bad idea. "Maybe we can meet Tim and Delilah for dinner sometime so we can talk," I suggested. "I'd like that," he said. "I'll text her in the morning. I'm really tired," I yawned. He chuckled. "Then lets get to bed. We've been working a lot lately," he said, helping me stand up. I sighed. "Only six more weeks of work for me," I said as I climbed in bed. "Only thirteen weeks until we have our little girl," Nick said. I giggled. The way he talked about it made me so happy. "She really is going to be your princess, isn't she?" I suggested. "You're my queen and she's my princess," he said. I felt myself blush a little. Slowly, we drifted off to sleep.
A/N- sorry it's a rly rly short chapter. I'm kinda struggling to figure out how to go on from here then after the birth and all. Hopefully I'll be able to update soon!
