I stood frozen with fear as I saw my three year old son fall over the glass railing and into the water of the crocodile enclosure.

"NOAH!" Jacinta and I both screamed at the same time.

We ran over to him and I jumped over the railing and into the water. I couoldn't touch the bottom so I dived down and picked Noah up and passed him to Jacinta.

Jacinta placed him on the ground and reached her hand out for me. I slowly took her hand but when I realised the crocodile was now in the water with me I rushed a little more.

"HURRY UP AND GET ME OUT OF HERE!"

Jacinta screamed as my hand kept slipping from hers. I couldn't see where the crocodile was but I was sure it was too close for comfort.

A zoo keeper pushed Jacinta out of the way and grabbed my hand. He pulled me out the water and I used my other hand I help pull myself up.

I was completely out of the water except for my left foot and I heard the bystanders scream. I turned to see the crocodile inches from my foot as I was pulled over the railing and onto the floor.

I layed there for about a split second and sat up to hug Noah. I looked at the crocodile from over Noahs shoulder and realised that it had my shoe in it's mouth.

Jacinta knelt down beside me. "That was a close call. You were almost crocodile food!" She yelled and helped my stand up.

I still held Noah in my arms and tried to stop him from crying. The manager of the zoo walked up to us and handed us both a towel. Did this stuff happen often or something?

"Are you alright?"

I nodded. "Yeah, we're fine. Just a bit shaken up I guess,"

He bit his lip. "What happened?"

"My son fell over the railing and I jumped in after him. Oh and the crocodile has my shoe,"

The man looked over at the enclosure and watched as the crocodile tore my shoe into tiny pieces.

"Well that could have ended badly." He sighed.

"You're telling me!"

He frowned. "The least I can do is offer to buy you all lunch from our cafe."

I smiled. "Sounds good. Maybe Noah will stop crying if he's preoccupied with food."

He smiled. "Great." He pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Jacinta.

"This entitles three free main meals from out cafe and three large drinks." She read it out loud.

I smiled but could swear my lips were going blue. "Thankyou. I really think you should get some taller railings."

He shrugged. "In good time." He said and walked off. Wow, he's really calm, too calm... maybe this does happen too often.

We walked to the cafe and once there we picked a seat inside by the window. I was so cold and the sun was hidding behind the clouds. Noah was still crying and shivering at the same time so I decided to change his clothes.

I found the bag hanging from the pram and pulled out some track pants, socks, a shirt and a jumper for Noah. I pulled off his dripping wet jacket, shirt and jeans and slipped on his dry clothes. This seemed to make Noah happy as he stopped crying.

As for me, well I would just have to wait until we got home to get out of my wet clothes and  I just hope I don't get sick.

The waitress came to take our order and I handed her the piece of paper the manger had given me and she smiled. "You fell into one of the enclosures didn't you?"
