I turned to her and smiled. This would be the second time we got our clothes drenched today but by the expression on her face it looked like she was having second thoughts.
"Are you sure?" I asked as she bit her lip.
She nodded. "Why not?" Her worried face turned to one of determination.
I laughed. "Okay, i'll run to my car and you run to yours on the count of three."
She but in. "One..."
I looked at her confused for a second but caught onto what she was doing and I continued the count. "Two..."
We took one last look at each other and smiled before both yelling... "THREE!"
We both ran as fast as we can to our cars over the wet grass. My car was parked further from the house than her's so I almost slipped over twice. The grass made squishing noises under my feet and I swear my new shoes were ruined.
Once I got to my car, I filddled around for my key so I wasn't watching where I was going and stepped into a foot deep puddle and sadly... screamed.
"OH MY GOSH!" I slowly stepped back and lifted my foot out the water.
I took off my shoe and tipped it upside down, watching as water poured out of it. Through the rain I heard Jessicah laughing. I closed my eyes lightly and took a deep breath.
I was completely drenched by now and couldn't see anything with the water dripping down my face and over my eyes. I pulled out the key ring and tried to find which key it was while not letting it slip out of my hands.
Just as I found the right key I heard someone call my name. I turned around to see Jessicah trying to get my attention.
"JUSTIN! I CAN'T GET INTO MY CAR!" She yelled and kicked her wheel.
I couldn't help but think 'who's laughing now huh?'
I ran over to her as she slid down the side of her cardoor and sat on the ground. "What's wrong?!" I asked her in a loud voice as the rain was so heavy that it was hard to hear.
She laughed. "I locked my keys in my car!"
I couldn't help but laugh. "Well that was smart."
She shook her head and I held out my hand to help her stand up. She took it and I pulled her to her feet.
"So what now? We just stay out here in the rain?" I looked down at our clothes which were clinging to our skin and dripping.
She shrugged. "I don't know."
We stood there awkwardly for about 5 minutes just listening to the rain fall onto the pavement before I couldn't stand it anymore.
"This silence is killing me. Why didn't we just go inside again?" I asked her and looked into her car window not being able to see her car keys.
She laughed. "I don't know. You tell me."
I shook my head. "I'm the normal one here. I'm pretty sure it was your idea to stay out here like hobos."
She laughed even more. "Nope, definitely your idea."
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever... i'm going back inside cause i'm freezing." Could she see my skin going blue?
"Wait!?" She grabbed my hand and I smiled before turning back to her.
"You know what... I really want to tell you something and i've wanted to tell you for a while."
I was still holding her hand. "I think I know what you want to say and I feel the same way Jess... " I flipped my hair out of my eyes but it just fell down again.
She giggled and blushed. "I love it when you do that... the hair thing."
I moved my hand up so it was touching a strand of her hair that was hanging loose and played with it between my fingers. She moved her hand up to mine and touched the same piece.
"It looks ugly.. it's all wet." She pulled my hand away from it.
I shook my head. "It's a part of you so it could never be ugly."
She laughed again. "You know how cheesy that sounded?"
I shrugged. "It made you laugh... that's all that counts."
Jess looked down at the puddle forming below us from our dripping clothes and started playing with it using her foot. "You know... i've never been... kissed in the rain." She still didn't make eye contact keeping her focus on the puddle.
I smiled and bit my lip. "I haven't either. But you know what?"
She kept her head down. "What?"
I learnt close and whispered in her ear. "It's raining..."
Before she could say anything I moved my hand to below her chin and lifted her head so she was looking at me. She was smiling and a little bit red.
"Such a beautiful smile." I watched her bit her lip and blush even more.
The rain had smudged her make up leaving mascara down her face and when she blinked it would cause droplets of water to slide down her eyelashes and drip onto the floor. I've never seen her so beautiful.
"I missed it..." I told her as moved my hands so they were cradling her face.
She smiled even more. "I missed yours t-"
I cut her off as I leant in and kissed her. She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me back as I moved my hands down to her waist. She was such an amazing kisser. Her lips were so soft and what made this even more special was that I had wanted to do this since the moment I had met her.
She pulled away for a second and whispered in my ear. "You know my keys aren't really locked in my car."
I couldn't help by chuckle. "I know.. you're a bad actor."
I could feel her smiling as she kissed me once more.
The rain was calming down a bit now and I pulled away from her. "You have no idea how long i've wanted to do that." I smiled.
She giggle. "Same here. Do you remember that conversation we had? You know, before I left for Paris?"
I lifted an eyebrow as I thought back. "Which one? We had a lot of conversations."
She bit her lip. "You know, we were sitting in your room and you told me i'd find someone that would be a father to.." She placed her hand on her stomach, "Her?"
I smiled and nodded. "I remember that one..."
"Well, I think I found him." She grabbed my hand and squeezed it.
I looked down at our hands and squeezed hers back. "I think you have too."
That was the last thing we said before she pulled me into another passionate kiss.
