Chasing Hollywood

Chapter 5

"What happened?!?" Asked Jade when she saw me smiling.
"I... I... call me Ms. Laynie Pierce from now on! I got the role!"
"OMG!" Squealed Jade. We started walking to my car. As we did that, I punched Ezra's number into my phone.
"I'm excited to start working with you,"
"I can't wait to work with someone as talented as you Bay." Replies Ezra. I never imagined that one day I would work with the Ezra Johnson. When we reached the car, there leaned on the car was Jack. My heart melted every time I saw him. He greeted me with a smile.

"So?" He asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Good, I'm the new Laynie Pierce."
"Congratulations... when?" He asked hesitantly. I already knew what he was asking.
"Tomorrow." I said while letting my eyes drop. Then I looked up to see his face. It looked like someone punched him in the gut. I didn't understand why he was being like this. Why was he acting so sad and depressed about my leaving.
"Aren't you glad I'm finally leaving you? I'll be out of your hair." I said laughing while giving his a small punch on the arm.
"No, I'm not happy you're leaving." He said with venom in his tone. Jade got the hint. She decided she'd better leave, because it wasn't her place to be. My face twisted and I was no longer laughing or smiling.
"You can come with me, Jades coming with."
"Let's just go, you have a lot of packing to do. You don't want to miss your flight." He said viciously. I just stood there shocked and paralyzed.
"Let's go!" He yelled. It scared me. I've never seen him like this. I searched for Jade but she was no where to be found. When I didn't move he came over and grabbed my arm. He started forcing me in the car. His grip was too tight.
"Please let go, you're grabbing my arm too tight." He grabbed me tighter and practically threw me in the car. I was crying. I didn't want to be with him in this stupid car anymore.

I was almost done packing when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to a surprise. It was the police.
"Excuse me ma'am, are you Bay Grey?"
"Yes, I am. Why?"
"We're so sorry, but your mother Ashley has been found dead in the river." It felt like my world had came crashing down.
"We think it's ruled out to be a homicide. She was found with her throat slit and was covered in bruises. We found a heart shaped locket around her neck with your picture in it. Do you have any clue who this might have been? Her husband?" The friendly cop asked.
"No, my... my father was her only husband and he was murdered." There were tears streaming down my face.
"We're very sorry ma'am. We will catch the killer.
"Thank you."
"Goodnight ma'am"
"Goodnight." I said quietly. My mother had my picture. She cared about me.

Jade came out to see what was going on.
"What's wrong?"
"My mother was murdered. They found her in the river with her throat slit and bruises all over her body"
"I'm so sorry babe," she was wrapping her arms around me.
"What happened?" She asked when she looked down at my arm. It was a nasty purple bruise.
"Nothing." I said pulling my sleeve down over it. Her face twisted.
"That maniac!" She started standing up.
"It's nothing I promise." I said pleading. She pulled out her phone.
"What did you do?... her whole arm is covered in bruises. Just because you're not happy with her decision doesn't mean you have the right to control her." She was screaming at him. It went on and on until it finally stopped. Jade was coughing. I glanced over and there was blood. She tried to hide it, but wasn't very successful. I walked over to her and unfolded her hand.
"What's going on with you? You've been in pain for a couple weeks, now you're coughing up blood, and I'm pretty sure your hair is shorter." She looked away.
"Just tell me what's wrong with you." I pleaded.
"I have stage 4 leukemia cancer." She said crying. I hugged her tight afraid to loose her too.
