Ezra still looked upset about something. He looked like he had something else to tell me, but he couldn't.
"What is it?" I asked. He hesitated and his face swelled up with tears.
"Dani's alive, but Jaden's not." He mumbled
"What?"
"Jaden didn't make it." He gulped
"How? She was perfectly fine. Not a scratch." I look at him in confusion. He tried to avoid my eye contact, but he met it anyway.
"She had a brain bleed."
"Didn't the doctors scan her or anything?" I demanded.
"Yes, but it was so tiny you couldn't see it." He looked down. We sat there in silence, letting our tears take over.I was stuck on bed rest, and I was becoming depressed. Everyone around me that I loved was dying. Ezra came and gone, I told him I didn't really want him around. He understood and wouldn't be here long. From time to time I would feel a sharp pain in the back of my neck, but not often. The doctor didn't show up much, but I liked it like that. I was stuck in here for about three weeks. Three weeks without my daughter by me. It was lonely.
Danielle was very critical, and the doctors didn't know how long she would live. There was no improvement with her. No brain activity or anything. They asked if we wanted them to pull the plugs, but of course we told them no.
"She's going to pull through." He said rubbing my arm.
"I know. She's a fighter." I sighed. I was tired all of the time.
"You okay?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Yeah. Just tired." He took it as a hint.
"I'll see you tomorrow." He sighed and walked out the door.Click. I woke up, it was dark. There was a flash from an object that looked like a phone.
"Hello. Who's there?" I asked. The room was silent. Click. There it was again!
"I like an answer when I ask a question." I said starting to panic a little. Still no answer. I looked around, and saw a silhouette of something that looked like a man with a white coat on. I didn't hear anymore noises, and fell asleep to the silence. It was bright outside today, because it nearly blinded me. It was a good day, but I still felt that pain in my neck. I walked over to the bathroom mirror and checked it out. It looked like there was something in my neck.
"Nurse!" I yelled. One came to greet me
"Yes Ms. Grey?"
"It seems I have something in my neck."
"Hmmm." She said. I looked at her waiting for an answer.
"What is it?"
"Oh. It's nothing. Just from the accident." She said and disappeared very quickly. Something was going on, but I couldn't put my finger on it. The doctor himself was strange. To me it seemed like the people around here were up to something, but I could be wrong."Good morning." Said the familiar angry voice. It was the doctor whose name I couldn't remember. I smiled but didn't say anything.
"It seems you can go home today."
"Where were you in the middle of the night?" I asked. He got a look of panic in his eyes and tried to hide his reaction.
"I was sleeping."
"All night?"
"Like a baby." He smiled.
"But you're a doctor."
"Yes, doctors sleep too." He pointed out. He was hiding something, but what? I needed answers, and I needed them now.
"I suppose." He was still smiling through his other reaction.I was released to go home, and I couldn't be any happier. I wasn't happy about going home, because we were burying our daughter. It was hard to bury your own child. She was just learning new things before she was ripped out of our arms. Ezra and I decided on burying Jaden in a lilac sun dress, with a Hair bow. She was the most precious thing to us other than Dani. Ezra never got to see her first steps, and he was never going to.
