"Cameron! I don't know what to say! This is all so sudden!" I managed to get out. My eyes widened when I looked down at the beautiful yet simple ring.
"Say yes!" he replied with a soft voice, his brown eyes staring right into me. Waiting for those three words to escape my lips.
"Yes!" I exclaimed, a big smile crawled on to his worried face. His nervousness disappeared and he enveloped me in the tightest hug, my feet leaving the floor.
"Excuse me everyone, I'm about to marry the most beautiful girl in the world!" he yelled to everyone at the resturant. Everyone looked over at me, and I couldn't help myself from smiling, I felt like I was glowing. They applauded to us, and we sat back down and ate our dinner.
"Did you talk to my parents?" I asked.
"Um, well they didn't like the idea of getting married, but I just have to have you to myself," he admitted.
"Well, I'm happy you tried," I answered through a smile. My first reaction was to call up Courtney. She answered on the first ring.
"Guess who is going to be my maid of honor?!" I exclaimed through the phone. I heard screams through the phone. I told her all about the surprise, and she's happy for us, ecstatic really. Then I texted Brittany and Nevaeh about it all, they won't be the last to know this time. Cameron slid the beautiful ring on to my left ring finger, it fit perfectly. We went back to my house, and watched a movie in bed. Nathan was sleeping in the pack and play we brought with us. He slept soundlessly.
"I think I figured out a way to see if we can trust Sara and Aaron again," I finally said, I didn't look over at Cameron, my gaze was still at the television.
"How's that angel?" he answered through a smile. I felt his grasp on me tighten by the second, pulling me closer to him.
"I think we should have them watch Nathan, for maybe an hour or so. Not to long," I let the words fall out of my mouth.
"Okay, that's fine, but what if something happens to him?" he asked.
"I don't think they would hurt him," I answered confidently, but that thought did cross my mind. I let my head fall on to his bare chest, and listened to the rhythm of his heartbeat and felt his chest moving up and down. Each breath making me feel safer with him. I felt his muscles tense up every once in a while when he slept, making me feel loved. I felt his breath on me, and when I looked up at him, I knew. That even if the worst was yet to come, I have him and Nathan, and that's all I could ever want. I closed my eyes, and fell asleep easily.
THE NEXT DAY
I woke up the next day still wrapped up in Cameron's arms, but he was amake.
"Good morning sleeping beauty," he said through a smile.
"Good morning," I answered back. I got up out of bed, and walked over to the mirror and started brushing my wild hair. Cameron came up from behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I smiled and closed my eyes, he kissed my forehead softly. Butterflies roamed through my stomach by his touch.
"Are you sure about taking him there?" he asked.
"Yeah, it will only be an hour," I answered, but I couldn't convince myself, that I was sure of the situation.
I changed into a pair of loose black and white printed pants that tied at the top and cuffed to my ankles at the bottom. I put on my black gladiators and a maroon crop top. I grabbed Nathan, and fed him, then changed his diaper before we left. I stopped the car in front of their house. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"I really hope this works babe," I whispered softly to him.
"Me too," he whispered back. I opened my door, and got out of the car. Cameron grabbed Nathan, and I followed the path to the front door slowly. Staring down at my feet each step I took. Is this a good idea? I walked up the steps, and stopped in front of the front door. I took another deep breath and rang the door bell once. I heard footsteps coming towards it, then the door slowly opened.
"What are you doing here?" she asked as she rubbed her eyes since the brightness of the sun was to overpowering. She must have just woke up, even though it was noon already.
"This is a test to see if we can trust you again. You have to watch Nathan for an hour, and if he's fine, then we could be friends again," I stated easily, almost like I rehearsed it.
"Oh okay," she said as she opened the door wider for us to walk in. The place was nice and clean.
"It's nice here. If you need anything just call me," I finally said. I kissed Nathan on the top of his head, just before Cameron handed him to her.
"Um, is that a wedding ring?" she asked me.
"There's a lot you've missed," I answered back. My legs started towards the front door, I didn't realize how fast I wanted to get out of there. Cameron was right behind me, and put his hand softly on to the small of my back. Reassuring me we made the right decision.
"Lets go to the park then!" he exclaimed as we walked to the car. I let him drive this time, we arrived at the park within five minutes. The sun was shining bright as ever today, and the smell of freshly cut grass and the noises of the screaming kids on the play ground filled my nose and ears. I stepped out on to the grass and took in the sun light, letting every inch of it hit me. I felt a hand grab on to mine then fingers wrap around mine as we walked around the park. I glanced around at nature, and how beautiful it was. Then I thought about how happy I am with him.
Aaron's POV
I heard cries from the living room. I jumped out of bed and ran straight to it, and I saw Nathan in Sara's arms.
"What do I do? He won't stop crying!" she screamed over his cries.
"I don't know maybe he needs to burp. Pat him on the back," I instructed her. Then I heard my phone go off, I ran to it and looked down at the text message.
*How's my son?* I read the message to myself.
*He's over my house right now.* I sent back to him.
*I'm coming to see him, now.* I read the message, I don't think it was a good idea to tell him Nathan was here. Five minutes later I heard knocks on the door. I opened the door, and there he was standing on my porch, waiting to see his son.
