Character: Ranpo Edogawa
Features: Arthur Conan Doyle (Oc)"I finally did it, after all this time." I mutter excitedly to myself checking over my notes one last time before hurrying to find my superior. In my rush I barely notice Arthur standing by the coffee machine watching with mild amusement as I frantically sort my notes into a yellow file. "What do you mean you finally did it?" He questions in mock confusion as I grin at him brightly showing him my notes. "I finally beat that so called master detective, I might just get that promotion I've been waiting for." He simply laughs at my enthusiasm handing me back the file, placing down his coffee on the counter. "Wow I'm impressed but you might want to get to his office soon, I saw the 'master detective' looking for him a few minutes ago." He confesses as I can only stare in shock before sprinting down the hallway towards the office.
"Boss I need you to look over this!" I shout yanking the door open only to find the detective sitting on the couch with a white haired kid. "(Y/n) I'm right here there is no need to yell." My boss chastises as I hurriedly shove the folder onto his desk. "I finally cracked the serial homicides case, here's all the evidence I collected." I smile proudly as he scans the documents briefly before looking at me slightly disappointed causing my smile to falter slightly. "Sorry to tell you (Y/n) but actually Ranpo here already solved it so the reward for it will go to the detective agency." He slides the folder towards me as I feel tears build up in the corner of my eyes. "V-very well sir, sorry to disturb you." I hang my head low and head back down the hallway towards Arthur who looked at me with concern. "I'm guessing that they got there first." He sighs used to this before handing me a cup of coffee with a reassuring smile. "So what if they go there first, we'll beat them next time for sure." He grins making me smile back feeling a little bit better, I nod taking a sip of the coffee sinking into my desk chair. The comforting silence was quickly interrupted by a mocking voice. "Not surprising I solved it first after all the police of this city are somewhat incompetent." Ranpo mocked as I clench my fists tightly trying to keep my composure. "Um Ranpo-san maybe you shouldn't
It had been a few days since then and I had started working harder than ever trying to solve the new case me and Arthur were assigned shortly after the last one. We were tasked with what was suspected to be a serial kidnapping case but may turn out to be a murder case, there was some debate on whether we handled it due to some of the victims being gifted. "Hey (Y/n) I'm going to head down the docks they just pulled up a body from the river that matches the description of one of our victims, wanna come?" Arthur offers grabbing his trusty magnifying glass stuffing it into his coat pocket. "Sure just give me a minute to grab my stuff." I tuck my gun into its holster heading out to where Arthur was waiting for me.
The drive down to the docks was mostly silent minus the slight humming of Arthur along to the radio. We eventually arrive at the docks heading towards the crime scene flashing our badges to the awaiting officers. "What have you found?" Arthur asks looking quickly through some documents handed to him by one of the other officers before handing it to me. "Well we haven't managed to find anything big but I'll show you what we have found." The detective leads Arthur away leaving me to inspect the body, I kneel down looking closely at the victim. It was a young woman with short brown hair in a creased white blouse and black skirt, she had no physical signs of injury narrowing down the cause of death. As I stand there I fail to notice Arthur who had a grim expression on his face. "(Y/n) I just got a call from the station, they want this solved fast so they want to call in extra help." He warns as I spin to glare at him with disbelief. "No they aren't calling him are they!?" I shout as he only nods turning to head back towards the car. "They want us to meet him at the agency." I storm towards after him mentally preparing myself for what would soon occur.
Eventually we arrive at what appears to be a standard apartment complex in central Yokohama. "Is this really the place?" I ask in disbelief as Arthur locks the car heading towards the entrance. "Yes surprisingly its only one of the floors." We head up the dark stairwell in silence until we come to a door of the agency, Arthur pauses turning towards me with a stern expression. "I want you to at least try to be civil while we are here, after all there is no guarantee that we will have to work with Ranpo." He reassures me with a smile opening the door. Instead of a calm workplace we are met with a brunette man trying to poison himself while others stand there watching. "When do you think he'll realize that what he drank wasn't toxic?" A blond kid asked watching with curiosity as the brunette continues to giggle madly. "I give it half an hour at most." A woman with black hair says with disinterest continuing to flick through her book.
"Excuse me we are with the police and we were told you would be assisting us with a case." Arthur interrupts awkwardly as they all turn towards us. "I'm sorry you had to witness that we'll be happy to help you." A blond man with glasses says escorting us towards some seats as another girl brings us some tea. "It's the serial kidnapping case huh." The blond man says reading through the file I gave him as Arthur continues to catch him up. "Yes we believe that it may be related somehow to the Port Mafia but we haven't found anything to prove it yet." Arthur explains as the detective nods.
"Well if it isn't detective (L/n) and Doyle, let me guess you guys need my ability to solve your case." a certain obnoxious voice cuts in as I clench my fists tightly, Arthur sensing my anger looks towards the detective in an attempt to be polite. "Well actually we were only told to get the detective agency's help so we may not actually be working with you per say." Arthur says as I smirk a little seeing the detectives ego deflate slightly, I smile in victory as he pouts sulking at his desk. "Well actually we are a little short handed and Ranpo happens to be our only available detective." Kunikida apologizes as I can only stare in shock as Ranpo strolls over with a cocky smirk on his face. "Well it seems that's our only choice, we'll be on our way now." Arthur says giving them a fake smile dragging me out the door before I can say anything.
Kunikida's POV
"Hey Kunikida why did you do that?" Dazai asks looking at me with a smirk on his face, I push my glasses up a little bit with a sigh before continuing with my work. "What do you mean?" I feign confusion as he laughs knowingly. "You know what I mean, we have plenty of detectives available so why did you say that only Ranpo was available?" He asks as I sigh looking up from my monitor. "You know that Ranpo has taken a liking towards her and this might be a way to get the police to cooperate more willingly with us in the future." Dazai smiles before turning back towards his own work, leaving me to contemplate how this would turn out.
