Higuchi X Chuuya

A/n: Sorry if this is bad (and a bit late) and will either get another part (potentially) or improved later on. 

"I can't believe I got lost on my first day." Higuichi sighs as she wanders aimlessly around the Port Mafia's headquarters in central Yokohama. "Maybe I should ask someone for help." She mutters to herself searching around the base aimlessly before finding a tall male dressed with a white lab coat tossing a lemon up and down in his hand absentmindedly. "E-excuse me can you please point me towards the training rooms?" Higuichi asked as the man paused turning to look at her with a confused expression on his face as he approaches her his expression changes to a twisted grin as he stares at her intensely. "Why a little mouse has wandered into the den of lions, maybe if I ask nicely the boss will allow me to experiment on you." Kaiji rambled excitedly as Higuchi backed away nervously scanning the hallway for help spotting another figure strolling towards them casually. "Hey Kaiji the boss wants to see you." A rough voice says causing the man to pout in annoyance before smirking and turning to the trembling female in front of him. "We'll have to postpone this but rest assured you will help me with my experiments in the future." He relents heading down the hallway and entering the elevator, turning to see her saviour Higuchi is taken aback being met with a short angry red head who looked at her with a scowl on his face. "I take it you must be new here." He says and Higuichi bows quickly "Yes sir." She replies standing up straight as Chuuya sighs "Where are you assigned to?" He asks as she scrambles to pull out a scrap piece of paper opening it hastily. "A-Akutagawa's unit sir." He sighs motioning her to follow him as they walk towards the elevator, as the doors close behind them. 

Chuuya reaches into his pocket pulling out a card and swiping it into the sensor before the elevator roars to life dropping quickly causing Higuchi to grab onto the handrail panicked as the elevator continued to plummet downwards before coming to a sudden halt causing Higuchi to stumble while Chuuya was unaffected. "In the future ensure that you have your card otherwise you won't be able to access any of the lower levels." Chuuya says as they approach a heavy mental door which opened as they approached it casting light into the dark room. Walking down the stairs she follows him carefully as they head towards the training rooms where screams could be heard from behind the doors. Opening the door Higuchi gasps seeing a man dressed in black being attacked from the darkness with a black beast with red eyes cuts through his shoulder leaving a gaping wound. "Akutagawa I found one of your rookies walking around upstairs, next time send someone to get them and save me the trouble." The redhead warns as a pale man dressed in a black coat emerges from the darkness with the beast from before attached to his coat. "Understood Sir." He replies curtly before turning his empty gaze to the female before him. "Tch unacceptable" He hisses as the creature growls disappearing into his coat "If you want to be of any use to me you need to train harder." Sighing the redhead approaches the pale man. "Akutagawa don't be so harsh on her, your subordinates won't improve if you keep doing this." He motions to the man propped against the wall holding his shoulder in agony causing the pale man to huff turning to his superior. "Yes sir I will work harder to make them useful for the organisation." He replies causing the redhead to sigh in defeat heading towards the stairs. "Good luck newbie." He sighs heading towards the elevator and as the doors shut behind him Higuchi felt a twinge of fear turning to face her new superior. "Now let's get started." She gulps nervously nodding as a familiar red and black beast appears from behind him menacingly. 

Time Skip 

It had been a year since that day and Higuchi had climbed through the ranks rapidly quickly becoming Akutagawa's partner after proving her skills in marksmanship and completing a few heavier missions since that day. Currently she was searching for a target by wandering through central Yokohama before settling at a cafe he was supposed to frequent regularly. "Excuse me is this seat taken?" A rough voice asks causing her to turn seeing a familiar redhead standing  in front of her. "Of course sir." She nods gesturing to the chair opposite her as he nods pulling the chair out soundlessly and sitting down. "So what are you doing here?" he asks gruffly causing her to look away from the bustling crowd towards her superior. "I'm doing some scouting for a target that owes a debt to the mafia." She replied digging through her bag for the file as Chuuya shook his head "Don't worry I don't need to see the files." She stops rustling through her bag turning towards Chuuya as an awkward silence overcomes the two. "If you don't mind me asking sir, why are you here?" She asked cautiously "I'm just keeping an eye out for a certain suicidal maniac." He huffs as she stifles a laugh "do you mean Dazai Osamu sir?" She asked earning an annoyed glare from the redhead sat across from her. "I can't stand that bastard always messing with me even after he left the organisation." Chuuya huffed as a waitress approached them with a bright grin. "Hello welcome to the Pop cafe what can I get you two?" she asked with a grin. "I'll have a cappuccino." Higuchi smiled handing the menu to the waitress. "I'll just have a black coffee." Chuuya hummed reaching in his pocket and pulling out a cigarette and a shiny silver lighter. The waitress nods telling them their drinks will be ready shortly before walking off serving another couple. "Why did you join the mafia, you don't seem the type?" Chuuya asks leaving Higuchi fumbling for an answer. "I don't really know I guess I just felt a calling." She replied causing Chuuya to laugh "People don't usually get callings to join a blood thirsty organisation." He teases causing her flush brightly "I don't really know how else you want me to put it." She says curtly pouting slightly at her bosses teasing. "No it's fine I was just curious." Chuuya reassured as the waitress returned with their drinks placing them on the table before leaving to help another customer. "Well why did you join the mafia then?" Higuchi asks before shutting her mouth in fright "I-I'm sorry sir that's not for me to question." She stutters not making eye contact with the executive. "What happened to that fire from before don't start apologising." Chuuya scolds causing Higuchi to breathe a sigh of relief before he continued "If you really want to know get ready because it's a long story." He warned before continuing to explain everything he knew of his creation from his time with the Sheep to joining the mafia. 

Before they knew it hours had past with the street lamps lighting up signalling night causing Higuichi to pull out her phone seeing 10 missed calls from Akutagawa. "Oh no oh no!" She panics jumping up and looking around much to Chuuya's confusion. "What are you doing?" he asked in confusion as she scans the area rapidly for signs of the target or her boss. "I-I'm in so much trouble, Akutagawa is going to kill me." She rambles as Chuuya gradually connects the dots. "If you're worried about your target don't be he didn't show up at all today." Chuuya says pulling out his wallet and placing some money on the table to pay for the drinks as Higuchi calmed down at the news. "Still Akutagawa won't be happy that I missed his calls." She said as Chuuya grabbed her phone calling the number much to her shock and confusion. "Hi Akutagawa this is Chuuya." He says dodging her attempts to steal the phone from him "Your target didn't show up today and don't blame Higuchi I borrowed her for an important errand today." He lied before going quiet for a few minutes "I'll take the heat for this from the boss don't worry." He finished pressing the end button on the phone tossing it back to Higuchi. "W-why did you do that for me?" She asked face flushed as he grinned at her causing her to flush brightly. "Consider it payment for keeping me company today." He smiled pulling out a scrap piece of paper scribbling on it and holding it out to her. "I enjoyed spending today with you let's do it again sometime." He smirked walking off leaving Higuchi alone and flustered by the cafe. Pressing a hand to her warm face she tried to slow her beating heart seeing the ginger walk off into the darkness. "I'm looking forward to it Chuuya." She whispers to herself before heading home with thoughts of the angry ginger filling her head.
