Dave's Point of View

Walking outside, I stayed quiet for a moment and as I went to speak, (Y/N) spoke softly,

"Don't Dave. Just don't." Pausing, I sighed and replied, to her back,

"It's always hard when someone you love is the target...Yet, imagine how Aaron feels."

"What?"

"They're taking the women, the male partner doesn't have a type. The female does. She picks his victims based on the partners...(Y/N), you are in more danger than Aaron. So, just imagine how he feels."

"We're ready to give the profile." Aaron's voice interrupted our conversation, followed by the door to the station closing and I looked over my shoulder, to see him standing there.

"Dave, can you run point?" He asked, crossing his arms and keeping his stoic expression.

"Of course, Aaron." I replied, going inside and starting the briefing.

Aaron's Point of View

As Dave went inside, I walked around to face (Y/N) and she remained rigid. Her gaze stayed away from mine and I sighed, lifting her chin. Her large (e/c) eyes glared into mine and I felt my gaze soften.

"He's right, Aaron. I know he's right."

"But?"

"But this team is targeting us. She's targeting you. I'm just worried."

"I'm worried too, but I'll protect you."

"And who's gonna protect you?"

The question caught me off guard and she noticed, placing a hand on my bicep. Her stance became less rigid and she caressed my cheek, answering her own question,

"We'll protect each other."

"Don't forget us." Dave's voice made me turn and upon seeing the whole team, I sighed. (Y/N) looked over her shoulder and chuckled, replying,

"I could never."

"Give us a moment, guys. We'll be right in." I asked and, upon hearing Morgan's wolf whistle, felt my face begin to heat up. When the precinct door was closed, I wrapped my arms around her waist and buried my face in the crook of her neck.

"Aaron?" She gasped, her arms wrapped around my neck and her fingers lacing into my hair, the confusion in her voice.

"I'm scared too." I whispered, my arms tightening around her waist and she sighed, replying,

"It's okay to be scared sometimes, Aaron."

"And be distracted during a case?"

"Aaron, this has become personal."

"..."

"I'm gonna be distracted too, but we have an amazing team. They'll be there for us."

Pulling away from her embrace, I looked down at her and she pulled me into a kiss. For a moment I was shocked, but then I gave into the kiss and laced my fingers through the hair at the base of her neck. Feeling moisture touch my face, I pulled away from her and looked at her, concerned. She was crying, trying to stifle her cries with her hand and I pulled her into my chest, whispering,

"It's okay." She pulled away from me and wipe her face, nodding,

"Yes. It's gonna be okay....Okay. I'm good. Let's catch these guys." She responded, pulling away from my embrace and pecking my lips, before going back into the precinct. Following after her, I placed my hand on the small of her back and looked at the team, commenting,
