"Joey, before you say no, hear me out. Okay?" Joey listened to Nakita's voice on the other side of the phone. He sighed and got out of his vehicle.

"Nakita..." Joey began with another sigh.

"No, Joey, do not be a stick in the mud. You need this. She needs this. It is time that you get out and have a proper date, and not with some hoe." Nakita growled at him, proving her disapproval of his choices.

"You don't understand, Nakita." He was cut off again.

"No, you do not understand, Joey. You are miserable. It is time to put yourself out there. You have to go on this date. I have it all arranged already. Do not even think about leaving me hanging here." Nakita warned him, almost viciously.

"Nakita, my job doesn't go well with dating. Why else do you think I choose not to go out on dates?" He shook his head, keeping his demeanor calm. The proposition was intriguing, he had to admit, but impractical and totally against the rules. Maybe that was the real intrigue to it.

"Well, maybe it is because you are a chicken. Or, maybe it is because you are terrified of a commitment. Or..." Nakita started listing off reasons.

"Whoa! Wait now. I am not scared of commitment." Joey attempted at defending himself. He couldn't help think about the consequences that falling in love would create. "My job doesn't give me the flexibility."

"Lies!" Nakita snapped. "Joey, I drive by your house after almost every evening shift I have and you are home. Do not pretend to say that you do not have the flexibility!"

"You don't understand..." Joey muttered, rubbing his forehead. It wasn't the first time he had gotten the third degree from his friend. It probably wouldn't be the last time either. "What about you, Nakita? Where's your relationship? Don't be hypocritical."

"Hypocritical? Joey, you find me a nice, attractive man to take me out on a date and you could not hold me back." She loosened up a little bit, but she was dead serious. "And do not you dare throw this back at me."

"Nakita, for the last time, I can't go on a date." Joey sighed.

"Oh, you are going. I was trying to be nice about giving you an option. You do not realize the effort I put into pulling this lady out of her shell to get her to go out. You are going, and you are going to make a good impression, because that is what she needs. She has been through a lot and she has cut herself off from the world. You give her the time of her life and you be a perfect gentleman." Nakita commanded with no options being allowed.

"You pulled her out of her shell? What? Is she a hermit or something?" Joey began walking across the street to a low lit bar. He cautiously checked for vehicles coming through his path, but the street wasn't a very popular one to begin with.

"She has been through a lot, Joey. She lost her parents on the night of her engagement party nearly four years ago. She claims to have tried dating after breaking it off with her fiancé, but if she did it was years ago. She needs a fresh start. You can show her that not all men are complete idiots." Nakita spoke calmly, irritation added a little extra depth to her vocal cords.

"I can." Joey agreed, slightly more curious about this lady. He paused at the bar door. "What do you mean by be a perfect gentleman?"

"She clearly has had bad experiences with men." The obviousness popped in her voice. "Do not make me a liar by being nothing less than perfect."
