CONTENT WARNING: LANGUAGE and VIOLENCE!

Joey could see his brother's frustration as soon as Ev had gone unconscious. It clearly hadn't been his intention. Joey couldn't help but feel relieved that she wasn't awake to endure anymore. In spite of the sudden change in plans, he was impressed by how quickly Davy brushed it off.
Davy signaled for Gus to pull Zach over by Joey. Zach didn't have much choice but to do as he was forced to do. There was no way he'd be able to overpower Gus — the man was practically an immovable rock.
"Have you met your wife's ex-fiancée yet, Joey?" Davy knew the answer to the question before he asked it. There was no way he didn't know if Joey had met the man before. He followed him around way too much not to know. "Don't you wonder sometimes what they shared together as a couple? What they did together? Doesn't it make you curious?"
The ideas that Davy was putting into his mind sickened Joey. He didn't want to think about some past fling Ev had had. It was before his time; in their past. There was no need for him to need to know any of it. He kept his mouth shut.
Davy nodded his head, biting back some frustration. "You're going to get to know him better, brother. I want a few minutes with your wife."
Joey pulled against the chains, getting as close and violent to Davy as possible. "You leave her alone." His voice was low and dangerous. He pinned his brother with a look of pure lethalness.
Davy smiled and tapped his brother's cheek. "You're in no condition to argue with me. Scotts help Gus take them both back to the cage. We'll deal with them later."
Scotts mumbled something under his breath, but walked away from Ev and did as he was told.
Davy stopped him, his hand gently putting pressure on the man's shoulder. "Don't worry, you'll get her back."
Scotts nodded and pulled Joey down to the ground. He unhooked him and allowed his body to fall, taking no care in making sure he didn't get more hurt. "Get moving." He demanded, pulling a revolver out and pointing it at him.
Joey's arms felt stretched beyond belief. He sucked in as much oxygen as he could before struggling to find his footing. He could feel an arm link around his waist and pull him up. He was surprised to see Zach's face give him a brief, kind smile. He was spent and the extra help was more than appreciated.
"Didn't you hear me?" Scotts growled, shoving Zach forward. "Get moving!"
Joey could feel Zach tense under the shove. He was a bucket of raw nerves ready to jump into action. He'd known men like that, they could be lethal or they could be stupid. He'd find out soon enough which of the two Zach was.
The desire to know what Davy was planning on doing with Ev bothered Joey. He wanted to question him, find out his plan, but the reality of it was that talking anymore out of term would lead to a more painful side effect or worse consequences to Evelina. He couldn't risk that; not now at least. He needed to buy as much time as possible. If he could rest his worn out body for even just a few minutes, he might be able to do something. He just needed to build up some more strength.
"Hang in there, buddy." Zach's voice was low and quiet as he pulled Joey closer to a big cage in the middle of a back room. It was like a jail cell. It seemed to have been built by hand; intricately designed to fit in that room. There was a cursive lettered 'D' on the door of the cell, reminding Joey of how often Davy liked to put his mark on things.
The door to the cell was already opened and Scotts spared no time in shoving them both in. Zach couldn't hold Joey up and both men fell to the cold floor, the door slamming loudly behind them. They were left to wondering what was happening. The walls didn't seem like they were super thick and the likelihood of hearing at least some of what would happen seemed highly likely.
