IT'S DATE TIME!!!

-----------------------------------------

Impatiently, Evelina waited for the iron to heat. She felt as though she was running out of time. The day had felt like it had been dragging on, but now it felt like it was going by too quickly. She drummed her fingers on the ironing board as she rolled her eyes. She didn't know anyone who would have taken the time to iron something. In fact, she wasn't sure she knew anyone even with an ironing board.

She was to meet this Joey at a fancy restaurant up town in less than two hours. Time was running out. She had to take a shower still and do her hair. Her makeup was the least of her worries at this point. She needed a nicely pressed outfit to fit in at dinner. She needed to look the elegant part and not that of a waitress that waited tables all day. There was no saying what this man expected. She, herself, didn't even know what to expect. She had to be prepared for anything, for everything.

Without a second thought, she ran into the bathroom to take a shower. The least she could do was get going on everything else. The iron could heat up on its own just fine without her staring it to death.

Minutes later she was out of the shower with a towel wrapped around her wet, naked body. Her hair was laying in a sopping mess around her shoulders waiting to be styled for the occasion. She pushed her bangs out of her eyes, realizing they needed a trim soon, before grabbing her blow dryer and plugging it in. She flipped her head quickly and began blowing the mess dry. She ran her fingers loosely through and let the wetness be dried thoroughly. She turned off the blow dryer and flipped her head back up. The hair was just damp enough to make it easy to maneuver the strands to her liking. She pulled the hair up into a messy bun and rearranged the little strands to hang around her face loosely. A few bobby pins and a little hair spray completed the look.

Quickly, she pulled out some eyeliner and applied it in a few quick streaks above her eyelashes. A little mascara tamed the lashes and completed a simple elegance. She smiled at herself in the mirror before leaving the room to check the iron. Sure enough, it was ready and waiting for her. She began smoothing out the little red dress with the hot iron sliding over it. She pulled it off of the board and shook it out.

Impressed with her results, she finished getting dressed and picked out some big loop earrings to put on. She slipped her small feet into some black stiletto heels and put a black belt around her dress to complete the outfit. She smiled as she grabbed her purse and hurried out the door.

As soon as she got in her car, she gasped at the time. "Crap! I'm going to be late." She couldn't help but growl at her tardiness. It'd been nearly two years since she'd allowed herself to go on a date, and this was definitely not a good start to it. A little fear tightened her shoulders. She gently shook them out as she drove. Her heart had been broken before, but she wasn't sure if she could handle that happening again. However, this was a risk that she was willing to take to get her friend off of her back about not dating. She could use a little fun. A night out was much needed.

She pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. It was a type of fancy barbecue joint. It made her laugh to think that this place was considered an elegant restaurant. Elegance and barbecue sauce didn't sound like they went hand in hand. However, it was a very well laid out restaurant that did look fancy both on the outside and the inside. She'd been there once before with Nakita and had been very impressed. Cheap was not in its vocabulary though.

She turned off her car and popped a leg out of the open door. She was careful not to trip over her heels. It would be just like her to trip and skin her knees up. Gracefully, she exited the vehicle and locked the doors behind her. Seeing a man standing outside puffing on a cigarette, Evelina figured that it was him. She casually walked up to him with a bit of a flustered look on her face. Unavoidable given the fact that she was late.
