Evelina sighed, then stood up from the chair in Rose's room. She slipped her fingers through her hair as she walked back to the living room, bumping the sore spot on her head. A moan escaped her mouth as she sunk down in the couch across from the guys. She grabbed a pillow and cradled it against herself.

"You okay?" Jacob looked up from cleaning his revolver. Jimmy stopped doing the same and looked up at her. Both were getting prepared for whatever monster would come their way.

She shrugged, fixing her gaze on the window. "I just forgot there was a bruise on my head. I'm okay."

Jimmy watched her for a moment before getting out of his chair and walking to the kitchen. His revolver was once again neatly tucked away under his shirt in the small of his back.

Jacob briefly glanced up at Ev staring out the window before going back to cleaning his gun. "What are you thinking about?"

Evelina didn't move her gaze from the window. "What's going to happen next."

"Ain't something that you can predict." He said briefly. He gently ran a soft, cleaning rag over the short barrel of his gun. It shined as he rubbed it cleaner.

She sighed. "No, I can't." She blew her blonde bangs out of her eyes, her gaze dropped to the ground. "I just hope he can help him." It was a random comment, but her mind refused to drift far from Joey and what Doctor Wiley was doing to help him.

"He'll be able to help Joey. You've gotta have a little bit more faith in him." Jacob stopped cleaning his weapon and focused on Evelina.

"Our bedroom is far from being a hospital. I mean, it doesn't have one of those flat, straight, hospital beds or the correct lighting. And what if the bleeding goes out of control, I mean, he doesn't have any assistants or anything!" Ev started freaking out. Her eyebrows were knit together and her forehead creased in more areas than usual.

"Ev, you need to calm down and stop worrying. You're the one that's always saying that your Jesus will take care of us." Jimmy stood nearby eating a sandwich that he had just slopped together.

"I know, but what if He's not listening this time? Or what if something goes wrong and He doesn't want to help us out with a miracle? Or what if..." She couldn't stop her frantic thoughts.

"Evelina, stop it!" Jimmy snapped hard at her.

Tears spiked Ev's eyes and her chin started to quiver again. She pinned him with a look, reminding him that he had overstepped a boundary with his tone.

Jimmy sighed. He set down his sandwich and walked over to her. He picked up a pillow and sat down next to her. His arm went around her shoulders and he pulled her into a side hug. "I'm sorry, Ev, but you do need to calm down. Joey's a fighter, always has been, and if I've learned anything from you, it's that you have a very strong faith in things getting better. I attribute that strong faith to your belief in Jesus and I don't think that He'll turn His back on Joey... or you and Rose for that matter."

"But what if..." Evelina started again, biting her tongue to keep from finishing her sentence.

"Ev, you need to quit saying that. You're going to have all of us going out of our minds pretty soon with worry." Jimmy warned her.

"Easy for you to say. You're not married to him or have his daughter. I don't know what I'd do without either of them, Jimmy. They're my life." Ev said tearfully.

Jimmy squeezed her shoulder a little bit to calm her down and comfort her. "I know they are." He mumbled under his breath as she buried her face into his shoulder and cried. He could feel her tormented, gut wrenching cries as she tried to muffle them. He could feel her whole body shaking almost uncontrollably. He felt like he should be doing something more for her, but he wasn't sure what exactly that was.
