"You brat!!!!" Aunt Fuyu ran after you wielding a kitchen knife. "Get back here!!!"

You ran out of the house, running into the woods to escape her wrath. You knew that your punishment would be even worse when you returned, but in that moment, you just wanted to get away from the pain.

As you dove deeper into the forest, you began to feel tears streaming down your face. Entering a clearing, you found yourself underneath the biggest tree you had ever seen. It was dead, so you didn't know what type it was, but that didn't matter.

You plopped down beside it, leaning against its thick gray trunk. You sat there for who knew how long, allowing long racking sobs to clear the peaceful silence. You curled up in a ball, bringing your knees close to your body and curling your arms around them. After what seemed like hours of sobbing, you heard something rustling in the trees.

You stood up, falling into a defensive stance. Although Aunt Fuyu hurt you, her lessons stuck. She taught you to always be on your guard and not to hesitate to kill if you felt threatened by someone's presence.

You tensed as a figure broke through the line of trees, barreling straight towards you. Acting on instinct, you charged towards it, leaping onto the figure and pinning their arms and legs down.

"Ow!!!" A surprised yelp came from the figure. Upon further investigation, you found the figure to be a scrawny boy about your age. He had bronze skin and tawny hair. What caught your attention were his deep gray eyes that stared at you in fear.

"P-please... don't... k-kill me." The boy whimpered. Seeing him no longer as a threat, you climbed off him, brushing yourself off as he stood.

"Who are you?" You demanded from the scrawny boy. He shook with fear, watching you carefully as he responded.

"This is my tree. How did you find it?"

You narrowed your eyes at him, before walking straight up to him and grabbing him by his collar. "I said, who are you?"

This time, he stared you down, no longer shaking with fear. "I'm just a nobody. I'm just like you."

Your nostrils flared as you stared the boy down, throwing him away from you. "I'm not a nobody! My aunt is the fiercest warrior in the village! She personally trains me! You're the only nobody here."

The boy shook his head. "I know that your aunt hurts you."

Your eyes widened in surprise. "How did you-"

"Everyone knows." He responded.

You ran a hand through your hair in confusion. If everyone knew that Aunt Fuyu was so mean, then why did no one do anything about it?

"No one does anything because there's no need. They see how strong of a ninja you are, so your aunt's tactics must be working. The adults don't think it would make sense to stop your aunt if she is helping you become a valuable asset to the village. Heck, even the Council knows about it! They completely support your aunt's ways. No one cares if you get hurt, therefore, you are a nobody like me." The boy stated.

You stared at him in utter shock, taking in his words. No one cared? Not even the Council?

You felt tears starting to return to your eyes as you realized just how lonely you truly were. No one would save you from this hellish way of life. You were helpless.

Suddenly, you felt small arms wrap around you, pulling you tight into a hug.

"It's gonna be okay, we have each other now." The scrawny boy whispered to you. Before you knew what you were doing, you returned the hug, pulling him in tighter. It felt good to hug him, it calmed you. This warmth that you shared, it made you feel at peace. Like everything might just be alright.
