You heard the distant shouts of the scouts demanding people to clear a path and you hurried your pace to catch up. Any plans of returning the trays to the mess hall and going on a mind-clearing walk were wiped away instantly, replaced by an innate will to find out what happened to the scouts.
"Which way did the scouts go?" You asked a group of Sand nin. They pointed you in the right direction and you ran that way.
About a hundred yards ahead was a large commotion as the scouts were rushed into a tent with the medical symbol flying over the tent flap.
You picked up the pace, rushing towards it.
"I'm sorry, no entry at this time." One of the shinobi guarding the door blocked your path.
"Please, I need to get in-"
"If you require medical attention, please go to the nearest medical tent. This one is full." The other shinobi added firmly.
You crossed your arms, unwilling to move. "I'm exactly where I need to be, so I once again ask that you please get out of my way."
"Let her in."
Both guards stiffened at the cold voice coming from behind you. You turned to find Temari staring down the guards with a death stare.
"Yes... Temari..." They immediately moved out of your way.
"Thank you." You offered the girl.
"I expect you're here to investigate the injured scouts' conditions." The sandy haired kunoichi noted.
You nodded. "Yes, and you're...?"
"They're from my country, it's my responsibility to assess their health and determine whether they should be sent back home or not."
She held the tent flap open for you as you both entered.
Two shinobi were on freshly made cots, about three people trying to hold them down each.
The doctor, a bespectacled woman in a white jacket glanced up as you and Temari entered. "Please leave! No one is meant to be in here right now."
"Actually," Temari countered, "we are both fully qualified to be here." The kunoichi gestured for you to move closer to the writhing ninja and you obliged.
"Stay back! They're unstable!" One of the scouts warned as you leaned around him.
A woman with tawny hair was shaking in uneven spasms. "No... stop..."
"Get out of here!" The same scout demanded.
You promptly pushed him out of the way and took his place. You grabbed the woman's wrist, holding it down as you checked her pulse. It was fast, like she had just run a marathon. Next you opened an eye, checking her pupil. Her eye was glazed over, as if she couldn't see. It darted around quickly.
By this point, several of the scouts were watching you in curiosity, even the doctor looked intrigued. "Do you know what's wrong with her?" She asked.
You watched the writhing woman. "Does she have any physical injuries?"
"No- she's just... we don't know what's wrong with her." One of the scouts holding her down noted.
"Tell me exactly what happened leading up to this ailment."
Several scouts exchanged glances. "We were watching the Night Village wall from the bordering forest. It was a pretty standard shift." A young man started. "We maybe had an hour left before our shift would end and we could head back to camp. And then..." He trailed off and the woman beside him took over.
