(Y/N)'s POV:

You barely remembered your journey. Only the sleepless nights hiding from thieves and scouring for food.

And then suddenly you were here.

Standing at the gates of the Village Hidden in the Night.

Just as you remembered it.

Standing on either side of the main gates were a pair of guards, watching you cautiously. They knew who you were- everyone knew who the girl in the dark cloak was.

"Violet Phantom." One of the guards nodded to you, eyes watching you with cold respect.

There was nothing in her tone, no emotion on her face. Same with the other guard. They both wore masks of dull indifference.

And so you would do the same.

As soon as your foot landed within the village grounds, you became the cold, cruel Nightmare the Council wanted you to be.

"I don't think I need to remind you what sort of hell I'll put you through if I catch either of you slacking off during your shift."

"No, sir." Both guards straightened their spines, not daring to glance back at you as you moved behind them.

"If you fail to protect this village," You strode up to the female guard and quietly murmured in her ear, "I will rip both of your spines out and feed your insides to the woodland creatures."

She gulped loudly. "Understood, Violet Phantom." Surprisingly, her voice didn't quake. Her partner on the other hand, couldn't stop his fingers from twitching.

You backed away, smirking at the fear in their eyes. Exactly how it should be.

"Carry on." With that you turned on your heel, your cloak whipping behind you as you strolled down the main street of your home village.

It was as you always remembered it- the hushed tones, darting eyes, suspicious glares. Everyone on the street stared at you as you walked by. You paid them no heed, the common folk of the Land of Shadows were not the type to gossip. Lest they disappear in the night.

You headed straight for the administration building, a four story structure with tinted windows and a midnight blue roof. You had no doubt that the Council already got word of your arrival, thanks to the multitude of Nightmares who watched over the village.

As you walked into the main entrance, a Nightmare was already waiting for you inside. He wore a black mask, with two eye slits and carved with a vicious grin- the trademark of a Nightmare. All of them had a mask like that, although you didn't need to wear one. As a Jonin with the rank of commander, you had no need for such a thing. Everyone already knew who you were.

"The Council is waiting for you. Please follow me, Violet Phantom." The Nightmare gave you a slight nod of the head and led you to the highest floor.

You both stopped at a set of double doors guarded by two normal Jonin, both with passive expressions as you approached them.

"Commander (Y/N) is here for her meeting with the Council. Let her pass." The Nightmare commanded.

The two Jonin grabbed onto the door handles and pulled them open in unison, allowing you to stride past and into the chamber beyond.

As the doors closed behind you, you took in your surroundings. You remembered this chamber well, this was the last place you had been before you embarked on your journey to Konoha. And there, seated in a crescent shape on thrones of obsidian and glass were the seven members of the Council.
