"Come with me, (Y/N)-sensei."

You took Sasuke's hand, another sob breaking out of you.

He moved to help you up, but instead you pulled him down and into your arms.

He started to protest but stopped when the tears rolled down your face.

"I missed you..." You pulled him into a tight embrace.

The boy hugged back, arms pulling you into his chest. "It's alright..." He said soothingly.

So different from the cold exterior he once held onto.

At last, you pulled away, sniffling as you wiped the tears from your face. "What... what are you doing here, Emo Boi?"

Rather than grumbling at his nickname, he laughed and it was music to your ears.

"I'm here to rescue you, of course."

"But then..." Your eyes widened in realization as you looked around the square.

Ninja bearing the symbols of countless nations stood around the area, kunai at the necks of Nightmares. The Council was nowhere to be seen.

Movement caught your eye and you looked over to find Asuma Sarutobi and Ino Yamanaka walking towards a group of civilians, offering to help them up.

You bit down another sob. "Sasuke... what are you all doing here?"

The boy offered you his hand as he stood up. "We came to help."

"But how-" You rose to your feet as your dark-haired student helped you up. He made to let go of your hand but you tightened your grasp instead.

"Well don't ask me, you're the one who sent out all those notes..." He grumbled as he gently tried to pry his hand out of yours.

You recalled several weeks back, when you and the rebels had met in the abandoned warehouse.

The notes... each rebel had written one. A simple message, short but to the point.

This is my story, help us.

Taeru had been tasked with bringing them to the country's border where an ally took them and had them mass printed. Hawks were sent to drop them on villages in neighboring lands, a non-direct but clear plea for help.

You had hoped that in those three days before your coup, an army would arrive. Unfortunately, none did so you had moved on with your plan. Only for it to go terribly wrong.

"We need to get moving." Sasuke noted. He had given up on removing your hand. "The Council members disappeared but I have a bad feeling about them..."

You looked around the square. Most people were beginning to retreat from the clearing, probably returning to their homes. The shinobi forces were sweeping the area for remaining Nightmares. Countless medical nin were also present, helping the wounded. About eight people were huddled together looking far worse than anyone else. The surviving rebels. "Where will we go?" You asked as the rebels were ushered away by a several shinobi.

"We've established a camp several miles away from the village."

Your eyes widened in surprise. "You set up a war camp?"

The boy nodded. "A lot of us were sent out today to rescue you and the other rebels. Word spread several days ago about a public execution." His expression turned dark. "We couldn't find you up until now. We thought that today would be our best option to move in."

"How long have you been here?"

The boy looked at Asuma who was gesturing for the shinobi forces to move out. "Shinobi started arriving about a week ago. They've just kept trickling in since then."
