I leaned on the table and looked through the script that was on the table in front of me. I'd had it for almost a week already but I still had a bit of time until I knew it like the back of my hand, however, there was plenty of time until the first show. Still, a script reading was nerve-wracking. A few people in the room were also reading through their versions of the script, but the room was still filling. I noticed that the male lead still wasn't here, but I had been looking forward to meeting him since he had got really good reviews in his last show and the director and producer had been keen to get him for this show.

He sauntered in at exactly the time that the script reading was meant to start. Everyone else had filtered in before the time with their coffees, and some had even had the good idea to get food on the way. I kind of wished that my mother had decided to grab something off the breakfast menu when we had gone to McDonalds for coffee and hot chocolate.

The lead guy sat in the first empty chair that he found, which was very near to the door, and he slouched down. It seemed as if he didn't want to be here even though this job was highly sought after. I immediately thought that he was going to be difficult to work with. Still, now that everyone was here, we had a script reading to get on with.

A couple of hours later, after we had gone through a full reading of the script and had had a nice chat with each other to get to know each other, it was time to head home before the actual practices started on Monday in the local theatre. We were going on tour after the first show, which was just after two months, for a tour of the country. It was going to be my first time away from home, but I was really looking forward to it.

I did want to try and talk to Parker, but he was one of the first ones to get up and be out of the door. It looked like he wasn't the type of guy to mingle. It was a bummer that I wasn't able to talk to him to get to know him since he was my love interest in the production. I really should have good chemistry with him, therefore, I would need to get to know him quite well.

I headed outside to wait for my mother, who wasn't here yet, and found Parker leaning against the wall at the side of the door. He must have been waiting for someone else, as well. I moved to the other side of the door so the other people exiting the building could get past me easier. When everyone had left, it went quiet and it was just the two of us. I turned to look at him, and noticed that he was very focused on his phone. "Hi, I'm Willow. I'm the leading lady, and your love interest, in this production."

I held out a hand to him, stepping closer to him so I could reach him easier. He smiled and reached over to shake my hand. As he was shaking my hand, the door opened as someone was walking through. Parker pulled me closer to him, and against his chest, and he laughed. I actually felt his chest move as he laughed. "Hello. It's nice to meet you. I guess we should get to know each other before the first show so we definitely have on screen chemistry."

"That would be a good idea." I replied, stepping back and tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I heard a car beep and turned to see my mother pulling up at the pavement. I turned back to Parker quickly. "This is my ride. I guess I'll see you Monday?"

"How about we meet up tomorrow and get some coffee to get to know each other?" Parker offered. I nodded in reply, a little surprised that he had offered. He reached into his jeans pocket and pulled out a card, checking it before handing it to me. "That's got my personal mobile number on it. Drop me a text in a bit and we can work out tomorrow."

"Sounds like a plan. Text you in a bit, Parker." I told him as I pocketed the card in the same pocket as my phone, so it was easy to find later, and headed over to the car. I didn't know why I had a big smile on my face but I thought that this theatre production was a good idea. I was glad that I had finished school a year early to be able to do this.
