Lessons were boring. They were just long words and numbers that the teachers were meant to make interesting. They weren't doing a very good job. I wanted to go home and play music. I wanted to just use my keyboard or my guitar. Music was really the only thing that interested me anymore. The only reason I felt that I was still in school was for my music GCSE classes, and I only had three lessons a week. Which was a rip off. I needed more music. My boring science lesson finished and I headed out of the classroom, being pulled aside after walking just a few paces, my three friends surprising me.

"You looked a little bored in there, Em. Did you have other things on your mind?" Seth asked me, Jack and Sara standing either side of him. The three of them looked a little concerned. They hated it when I zoned out – even though I had been doing it a lot in lessons over the past couple of years.

"Music. I miss my keyboard and my guitar. Those lessons are so boring. I'd rather be playing music." I explained, shuffling my backpack on my shoulder. We had so many books that it was always so heavy. I couldn't wait to be out of school to actually focus on music career.

"Yes, we know. You've told us a thousand times." Jack told me, rolling his eyes a little bit. They had actually heard it a thousand times. "There has to be something that you can do to get your music out of you to focus on school at least while you're actually at school."

"Maybe I should join a band or something to actually play music outside of just my hobby." I suggested. "I'll have to look online later to see if anyone is looking for a keyboardist or are a guitarist in their band."

"Come to this place after school at five o'clock." Seth replied, handing me a slip of paper with the address of my local community centre on it. Before walking off. He turned and called over his shoulder to me. "Don't be late, Em, otherwise you might regret it! Oh, and bring sheet music."

After the horrible school day had dragged to the end, I headed home to change and chill for a little bit before I headed out to the community centre that he had told me to go to. I headed inside and heard the sound of guitars and a drum kit echoing from the main hall.

I walked into the main hall, seeing that Seth, Sara, and Jack were already there, sitting behind a folding table that was covered in a bunch of papers. Seth smiled at me as I came to stand in front of the table. "Ah, the final audition is here. Did you remember to bring the sheet music?"

"I brought a couple for some My Chemical Romance songs. Did you want me to start playing?" I questioned, gesturing to piano on my left. Seth nodded and I headed over to the piano, sitting down and selecting 'Welcome to The Black Parade'.

They all got up and started to play along with me. Sara was on vocals, Seth picked up the guitar and Jack was playing the drums. We actually sounded like a band that could perform in front of a crowd of people. I didn't know why I didn't think of starting a band with my mates before. I came to the end of the song, and turned to look at the other three. "What did you mean by final audition?"

"Well, we thought it might be a good idea to start a band, but we didn't know if you would be better on guitar or keyboard. I'm leaning towards you on keyboard. What do you guys think?" Seth asked the group. They all nodded in agreement. "Do you want to be a member of the band?"

"Yes, please!" I squealed, standing up and jumping a little. "Should we maybe think of getting another guitarist though? Just in case?"

"Let's see how it goes but we can think about it." Jack said, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and giving me a bit of a squeeze. "But let's leave that until after your birthday, though. Speaking of, have you got any plans for Sunday? You only turn sixteen once after all."
