Rye's P.O.V
I'd gone on my run but still couldn't get out of my head what Brook and Alex were talking about. It made sense now. Why Alex was so close with Andy, why he seemed to be the one that comforted him more than anyone else. And my husband had no clue what was going on in front of his eyes. I didn't blame him, of course. I had been putting him through hell and he'd hardly have the time or energy to think about anything like that.
A week later
I pulled into the hospital for the millionth time, where my parents and Andy's were waiting patiently.
"Hey, love. How did you sleep?"
I shrugged. "It was a bit of a struggle. I kept waking up every so often. As usual."
My mother sighed, hugging me. "It's only natural, baby. Come on."
I followed close behind them all, quiet and reserved. I just wanted Andy to wake up.
There was a nurse just checking Andy over, and greeted us before leaving. I sat on the bed, taking Andy's hands.
"Good morning, mi amor," I smiled, kissing his nose. For a split second, I thought I'd felt Andy's fingers twitch in my hold, but when I looked down, they were still.
"Did you have anything to eat, Rye?"
Lesley looked concerned. I nodded in response, trying to hold back tears.
"Good morning, baby." She came over, kissing Andy's cheek. She kissed my cheek too, smiling. "Don't cry, Rye. If I know my son, he'll pull through soon enough."
My father told them to leave the room so he could talk to them, leaving me alone. I stroked the back of Andy's hand, relishing in how soft his skin was.
"I have so much to tell you, baby. I just miss you, so much." I closed my eyes, taking in the silence.
"R-Rye," a hoarse voice whispered. My eyes snapped open, revealing Andy's own gorgeous blue ones.
"You're awake," I whispered, laughing in disbelief. He nodded, tears glistening. I bent down, connecting our lips together. "I missed you so much, my angel. My beautiful prince. I love you Andy, so fucking much."
"I love you too," he croaked out, and winced. My heart clenched a little, seeing he was still in pain.
"You don't have to talk, baby boy. Don't strain your voice."
I heard footsteps coming back in, and a gasp. Lesley ran over, taking me and Andy in her arms.
"Oh my word," she sobbed. By now, almost everyone was in tears. Like the man he was, my father was fighting back tears, hugging us. "I love you so much, my baby. I love you, I love you, I love you."
"I love you too, Mum."
Andy was discharged the next day, but was still considerably weak. I slowly helped him out of the car and he leaned against the door whilst I got his bags out. Brook, Alex and Mikey emerged from the house, running over. They all greeted Andy, even Mikey. I wasn't as angry with him, but I wasn't going to let it go easily.
"Baby?"
I was pulled from my thoughts and kissed Andy's nose. Brook cooed, taking the bags inside.
"What's wrong, Rye?"
"Nothing, my love. Don't worry."
Mikey gave me and Andy a look before going inside, taking the rest of the bags.
"What happened with you and Mikey?"
I shook my head. "It's not important right now, I promise. Let's go sit down. Do you want something to eat?"
"Rye, I'm only eating if you tell me what's up with you and Mikey. I won't talk to you if you don't tell me, either."
I opened my mouth to argue again but seeing exactly how serious Andy was made me close it again. He'd only just got home; I didn't want us on bad terms again.
"Okay. I'll tell you. When we're eating, though."
He smiled triumphantly, kissing my lips. "Come on then, handsome. The food isn't going to eat itself."
I chuckled, helping him through the doors and into the living room. I got Alex to make us lunch, holding Andy close. I didn't really want Andy to be alone and around Alex, especially considering what I'd heard my brother talk about with him.
"Why so clingy, babe?"
Andy smirked up at me, head on my chest. I kissed his forehead, pulling him onto my lap.
"Careful," he warned. I nodded, aware of the bandage around his torso.
"Maybe I missed your touch, my angel. There are a lot of reasons. I want to keep you safe," I whispered.
"You know I'm not going anywhere, Ryan? I'm right here, by your side, in this life and the next. You're stuck with me."
I laughed, running a hand through his hair. His legs straddled my waist, but I was careful not to pull him too close. He looked at me sleepily, kissing me over and over. I kissed back, hands on his perfectly shaped hips.
"You know, if you could, you'd be perfect for carrying our children."
Andy nodded. "But that's obviously not possible."
Alex came in with our food, placing it on the table. After glancing quickly at me and Andy with a hurt look, he hurried away.
"What was that about?" Andy asked, confused. I almost wanted to shake him for his pure ignorance. But I loved him too much to do that.
"I don't know, babe."
We ate pretty quickly, then Andy's face turned serious. "Spill."
I sighed, knowing he wouldn't let this go. So I explained about Mikey, trying hard to keep my cool as I relived it all. I could see Andy was upset, but relieved at the same time.
"I'm glad you didn't give up on me," he said softly.
"Baby, I'll never give up on you. Lord knows why I didn't see this before, but you're my world. I can't imagine living without you here, in my arms."
"Oh, stop it. Too much cheese for me," he grinned.
I carried Andy to my bedroom - well, our bedroom now, I guess - and laid him on the bed. By the time I'd taken my shirt off, he was fast asleep. Or so I thought.
"Good night, mi amor. I love you."
"I love you too," he whispered. I laughed, kissing his nose.
A/N I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to upload, but I took a long emotional break I didn't know I needed. My upload schedule might still not be as consistent because I'm starting to get back into that, so bear with me. Love you guys xx
