"eric! the fireworks are going to start soon so get your lazy ass out here!" mason had yelled from outside.

the couple never really got anytime alone, so when they planned to be together for new years and watch fireworks the two were beyond excited.

eric walked outside and put down the bottle of champagne he had in his hand. he smiled at his idiot boyfriend, who was laying on the ground with his eyes closed.

the shorter wanted to scare mason but the fireworks beat him.

the firework shot into the sky then let out a loud boom as lights spread across. mason shrieked, jumping up from the ground.

eric laughed at him, shaking his head.

"hey fuck you cunt!"

eric put his hands up defensively, giggling.

"come over here you cunt, lay on the ground with me." mason laid back down, eric followed him.

the fireworks were pretty, exploding with color and lights. they were super loud though.

soon enough it was almost midnight.

one minute

"hey eric? i need to tell you something important." eric sat up, turning towards his boyfriend. he nodded; telling the younger to continue speaking.

"so we haven't been together long and its our first new years. at first we were just goofing around but im actually really happy we made it official. you're amazing and i like you a lot. i wouldn't take back the time we had so far for the world, its been great. i really really hope we work out cause i think-" mason cut himself off, taking a deep breath and looking at eric.

the shorter was smiling sweetly at him, love and happiness burning in his eyes.

"i think im in love with you." mason said as soon as it hit midnight.

eric smiled even bigger, leaning forward and catching mason in a kiss. fireworks going off in the background.

after pulling away from the kiss eric grabbed mason's waist, pulling him closer. mason rested his head on eric's chest; he carefully listened to the steady breaths and light heartbeat. they could stay here forever,

"happy new year mason, i think im in love with you too." eric whispered.

mason smiled, kissing eric's neck.
