toby glanced at the two ice cream cartons in his hands. why was ben and jerry's so expensive? nonetheless he placed the more expensive one in his cart. 

ice cream was toby's comfort food. even though his break up was a month ago the thought of the good times never failed to send the boy in a spiraling hole of heart break. the kiwi has tried his best at moving on but its hard after being with someone for over a year. 

"still not over me huh toby?" the boy froze, looking up from his shopping list and locking eyes with liam and another male holding him by the waist. liam turns his head to kiss the guy and toby cringes. "this is david, my boyfriend. you seem to be here alone? pathetic really." 

"shut up," toby hissed out. "maybe i do have someone new!" 

liam raised his eyebrow and chuckled lowly, "yeah? where are they then?" 

toby panicked, glancing around quickly. he was about to admit that he was kidding before someones arms wrapped around his waist and kissed his cheek. 

"sorry i left, i had to go grab mac and cheese. who's this?"

toby's face went red and he stuttered, "um, this i-is liam. my ex.."

the stranger pulled away, grabbing toby's hand and glaring at liam. 

"ah, this is the asshole?"toby just nodded and watched as the blonde stranger looked liam up and down before scoffing. "well if you'll excuse us we must be going." 

the stranger dragged toby down the isle. toby chuckled at the expression on liam's face before he glared and turned away. 

"thank you so much." toby took a deep breath as soon as they were far enough away from liam.

"of course, i couldn't just leave you to struggle. im john by the way." 

"toby, is there any way i can repay you?" 

john smiled, "you could come over and maybe watch a movie with me?" 

the kiwi smiled before nodding. "let me just pay for my stuff and we can be on our way!" 

the blonde smiled excitedly and kissed toby's cheek before walking off in the direction of check out.
