john x jaren
prompt: jaren has been in a mental hospital for what feels like forever, and he is always bored out of his mind. that is until his personal care taker quits and jaren gets assigned a new one

"jaren?" a nurse called. jaren looked up from the ground, glaring at the person who disturbed his thoughts.

"Michael, you're care giver, just quit. you'll be getting a new one soon. until then i'm the replacement one, okay?" the nurse walked into the room, she nervously fiddled with the pen in her hand. she sat down on the chair across from jaren's bed.

"i'm going to tell you a little about your new caregiver, yeah?" jaren nodded. "good. okay so, his name is john. he is very sweet and gentle. he was actually the top student of his class. he'll most likely be your caregiver until you leave, hopefully he wont quit. he'll give you your medication everyday, as well as bringing you your food and going with you if you ever want to leave your room. sound good?" jaren nodded, and the nurse smiled at him before leaving the room.

silently he wished for her to stay, when he was alone the voices got louder.

jaren was put in here for a suicide attempt but he was kept here because of his mental illnesses and how "bad" his condition is. he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, insomnia, and depression a couple years ago but his parents never cared enough to get him help. that was until he tried to kill himself, then suddenly he was their everything.

jaren has the more positive psychotic symptoms. hallucinations, hearing voices, and paranoid delusions. mostly the hearing voices one. he does tale medications for it but for the past couple of days he's been throwing it down this weird little hole under his bed.

the voices tell him the meds are poisonous, that they are trying to kill him. and he believes it.

a nurse came back and handed him a tray of gross looking mash potatoes before leaving. jaren just stared as his food until the nurse came back and took it away without a word. it was normal for jaren to not eat, all the nurses gave up on trying.

he laid in his cotton cot bed, staring at the ceiling as the voices yelled nonsense in his head. there wasn't a chance he would sleep but he could try.

a soft knock made jaren glance at the cell door. what he was figuring was his new caregiver was standing there. jaren sat up, studying the man.

he looked good in the black scrubs he was wearing. rings covered almost all his fingers, speaking of fingers. his fingernails were painted black too. he had bleached hair that went to his shoulders. his facial features were soft, and he smiled sightly.

"i know im pretty but you dont have to stare." the guy walked into the room. handing jaren his pills, jaren stared at them. the voices screamed no but that beautiful smile of the nurse screamed yes. hesitantly he took the pills. the voices screamed louder telling him he'd die but the soon died down.

"im john, but im pretty sure you knew that. you must be jaren? my new patient. you're cute, if it weren't for you being in here i would definitely take you out." john winked and jaren cocked blushed a little.

"not a talking type? thats okay, im not really either. the job i have kinda forces me too, you feel? anyways, would you like to come outside with me? it's very beautiful today." john smiled again.

jaren's heart skipped a beat, he nodded and followed john to the back. a couple other patients were out there too.

john was right, it was vey nice outside. the sun shone brightly and there wasn't one cloud in the sky. jaren smiled softly, he missed outside.

john got caught up in a conversation with another co-worker. jaren took this as an opportunity to look around more.

they had a little garden, or a place where flowers grew. little yellow dandelions were randomly placed on the ground. jaren always had a thing for yellow. it calmed him. he stood up and walked over the the brick wall that kept them trapped in this place. he forgot what it was like outside, he missed it. he lightly traced the bricks with his pointer finger. the texture felt weird to him.

it was times like these where he really wished to be normal.

two weeks later

it's been two weeks since john showed up at the hospital. jaren would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy it. and he might even be catching feelings for his caregiver.

he's been taking his meds too, john always makes sure he does. the voices don't bother him much anymore. he eats now too, just a little bit a day.

all the staff around the hospital have noticed too.

john got called into the bosses office, which gave jaren anxiety. he sat impatiently in his room, waiting for john's arrive and the bad news.

eventually john showed up with a sad look on his face. jaren's fave dropped, he's getting fired isn't he?

john suddenly smiled, "you get to go home jaren. with me!" jaren smiled, he gets to leave finally.

"i talked to the boss. he said you've been doing much better. and as long as you stay with me and take your meds you'll be okay. and then soon you get to move out and start your own life! isn't that great?" jaren nodded. happy tears welling up in his eyes. john hugged him tightly.

(im sorry for all the time skips)

one year later

jaren was happy. he's been out of the hospital for a year now and is with the love of his life.

he no longer has to take medication or go to therapy. he no longer hears the voices anymore. he's happy.

he recalls what all has happened this year, crying out of sadness and happiness.

his lover rubs his back, whispering sweet things and kissing his cheek occasionally. his lover holds him close, telling him everything is okay.

jaren looks at his lover in the eyes. smiling softly and kissing him passionately.

it was then when he realized he was happy to end up in that hospital, or else he would never met john.

his fiancée
