I unconsciously played with my ring. It became a habit whenever I'm nervous. I never really took it off. I looked down on it and stared at it for a while...

How can I be so stupid?

All along it's been sitting on my fourth finger. It's a wedding ring.

I felt another wave of tears coming but I held it.

I took deep breaths to calm myself. I watched as the view from outside the cab change. We arrived at the address I gave. I rolled down the window and stared at the house in front of me. It was bigger than my family's house. This house is too big for just me and Alessia. Then I figured, it must have been another lie.

I was debating if I should go out there, ring the doorbell and surprise whoever is in that house, but then I noticed it seemed to be dark inside. I don't think there's anyone home. Is it really the right address?

I was about to tell the driver to leave but a surge of pain suddenly came flooding in, I felt my head thumping.

"So, I just want to know what do you think of this house."  We were standing in front of a newly built house.

"What do I think?"  I gave out a light laugh, "It looks.. comfortable I guess. It's spacious and it's a very good location too. It's very accessible."

"Would you imagine living in this house?"

"What? What do you mean?"  I asked feeling nervous.

"What I mean is, I want us to live here someday. If you'd give me the honor of being your other half for the rest of your life." I looked at him in shock of his sudden proposal. He was already holding a ring in front of me. "We've already been through a lot of things. We've stayed with each other throughout the hardships and the joy, and I want to keep it that way for a very, very long time. So I'm taking all the courage I have to ask you this question. Mia, I don't envision anyone else with me in the future but you, so can you make this vision a reality by marrying me?"

My hands covered my mouth trying to cover the sobs. I couldn't speak because of the tears and the joy, so instead, I nodded my head and hugged him.

"Let's go back," I told the driver through my sobs. I couldn't fight the tears anymore.

Just then, a car passed by and drove into the house's garage. I looked back to see who it was. A gasp escaped my lips when I saw him.

Now standing in the porch of the house was Dr. James, the same person who has proposed to me in my memory.

I went back home. When I entered the house I saw my dad sitting in the living room looking exhausted.

He quickly went to me when he saw me. "Hey, Dad." I greeted him soulless.

"Mia, where did you go?! You scared all of us, your mom passed out when she knew you bolted out of the house. I never should have told you anything. This is all my fault. I thought I was doing the right thing. I'm sorry-"

"Dad, calm down. I'm okay. I'm the one who should be sorry. You just told me the truth and I lashed out not being able to take all of it. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. Is... Is mom okay?" I apologized.

He sighed before speaking. "It's fine. I understand. Your mom's resting in our room, Maven's taking care of her. I'll tell her you're home." He came closer and hugged me. "Go get some rest." He let me go and turned his back on me, but I called out to him.
