"Are you sure you're not going to stay for the night?" Mia asks her mother-in-law again, preparing to leave.
"No, dear. Alessia's coming home tomorrow. I'm sure she's tired by then, I have to take care of that kid. But I appreciate your concern." Her mother-in-law smiled at her.
"How about we drive you home?" Mia still insisted.
"Alex already called a cab. It's okay, I know you're both tired."
Just then Alex entered the living room calling his mother, "Mom, your cab's here."
The three of them exit the house escorting the old lady.
"I already paid for it. Take care," Alex hugged his mom goodbye while Mia kisses her cheek, also bidding goodbye.
Once the cab was nowhere in sight, the couple entered the house again. Walking inside, Mia turned around glaring at Alex.
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
"You could have called me to tell that your mom's coming!" Mia ranted with crossed arms. Alex chuckled, thinking of this as cute. "It's not funny," Mia grunted.
"I'm sorry," Alex apologized but still finding his wife funny. "I didn't expect that you wouldn't check your phone."
Mia sighed, turning around to climb up the stairs to their room which Alex followed suit.
She realized that she might have been too occupied earlier that she didn't even think of holding her phone. She was drowned with the thought of her talk with her dad.
She glanced at Alex who went straight for the study room which was just across their room. Mia made a decision not to talk about what happened before she got home.
She prepared herself to bed by doing her nightly routine. She then lays on the bed to read some messages. As she goes through it, she feels someone crawl beside her, pulling her close and burying his head on the crook of her neck, lightly kissing her skin.
She could feel his warm, even breaths, she knew soon enough he'll be asleep, but she just likes to disturb him. "I'm still upset with you." She breathed even though she didn't move from her spot, away from him.
Mia waited for a few more beats for him to react, but he didn't move an inch. She rolled her eyes at the lack of reaction, so she took his hand away from her and moved to face her back on him.
Alex chuckled at her action before pulling her close to him again by the waist. Mia faced him with brows furrowed. Before she could even speak, Alex gave her a peck on the lips.
"What do you think you're doing?" She asked nonchalantly.
"Giving you the affection you want," Alex answered.
"Who said anything about wanting affection?" Mia snapped.
"You're not this petty unless you want some affection." Alex grinned at her and leaned in for another kiss.
"Stop that," Mia interjected although she knew she liked it. Alex was right, Mia craved for her husband's attention, although she never ran out of it.
Alex placed a hand across Mia's chin, squishing her cheeks. "You should eat more, you look so thin." He said, placing a kiss on her nose.
Mia swats his hands, "You stress me out, that's why."
"You sure it's not the other way round?" Alex joked, which earned him a slap on the chest. Alex smiled, closing his eyes as he pulls Mia close to his chest. He felt her hands creep to his back while her legs tangled to his.
