4 years later
Mia tried to get home as early as she can, but it was pretty late. It was that time of the year where her department was busy. When she opened the door to their house, it was dark and quiet. She sighed and went upstairs, she was exhausted.
Mia stood in front of a door that had cute decorations. She slowly opened the door, peeking inside. She didn't really expect anything. Still, she tried. She tried to look if her baby would be there peacefully sleeping.
Seeing the empty bed, Mia turned around to the other room.
She opened the room and, again she was greeted by the dark. The only light was from the moon. It took a moment before her eyes adjusted to the dark. She walked to the bed but her brows narrowed seeing it was also empty. Mia immediately grabbed her phone and was about to dial her husband's number when she felt someone behind her.
"RAAAWR," the small voice made Mia turn around. There she saw her little angel and her husband wrapped in a blanket, acting like ghosts.
"It's boo, Vera, not rawr. We've rehearsed this so many times," Alex reminded the little one.
"Boo!" The little girl tried again.
Mia laughed at the scene in front of her, "What are you guys doing?"
"Daddy said to surprise you," Vera explained to her mom, and Mia scooped her up.
"Oh, I was very surprised, baby. Surprised that you're still awake at this hour," Mia gave Alex a glare.
"It's only 9 pm, and she couldn't sleep right away because she slept the whole afternoon," Alex explained.
Mia could only roll her eyes. "What time did you pick her up at your mom's place?"
"About 5:30 pm."
"You made dinner?"
"Yeah, it's in the fridge. Let me prepare it for you," Alex volunteered since he knows his wife is already tired.
"Thank you," Mia said with a smile. Alex walked to her, kissing her on the lips. He was about to go when Vera pouted, asking for a kiss too. Her parents laughed and, of course, gave her what she wanted.
Alex proceeded to prepare Mia's food, while Mia placed Vera on the bed letting her watch some educational show while she changes.
It only took a few minutes when Mia was done changing. She called Vera and they both went down to the dining table where Alex was waiting for them.
While Mia was eating, Vera stayed at her dad's lap telling her parents what she did today while she animatedly spoke with her hands.
"Aren't you sleepy yet, baby?" Mia asked when was done with her meal.
Vera shook her head even though it was obvious that her eyes were already tired. "Mommy," She called out, stretching her arms in front of her. Mia picked her up from Alex and they went upstairs to prepare for bed.
Mia went straight to the bathroom after placing Vera on the bed.
Vera's drill was to climb up her parents' bed and tuck herself in the middle. She always did this even though she had her own room.
Alex followed her daughter and sat on his side of the bed, "When are you going to use your room? Mom and I need some alone time you know." Alex joked as if her daughter would get what he means.
"I like to sleep here. Mommy smells nice," Vera answered.
"What about me?" Vera only looked at her dad, thinking of an answer. When she couldn't think of any she sat straight in the middle of the bed, patiently waiting for her mom and ignoring her dad.
Alex clicked his tongue with his daughter's action. He decided to rest his back more comfortably too until he felt a small push from her daughter like she's trying to make him move.
Acting immature, Alex pushed her to move too. Vera looked at him with narrowed eyes and pushed him harder, so Alex pushed her harder too, making Vera lie on her sides. This caused Alex to laugh.
"Mommy! Daddy made me fall osjskjksj-" Alex immediately covered her daughter's mouth to stop her from calling his wife's attention.
"Okay, I'm sorry," Alex retreated his hand and saw her daughter stick her tongue out.
"You're really one sly kid for a 3-year-old." Vera only giggled as a response.
"Vera," Alex called her. She turned her head to look at her dad, "Who do you love more, mommy or daddy?" He knew he shouldn't be asking this, but he was curious about what she was going to say. Alex had always been the one to play with her, he always tries to match his daughter's humor so she won't get bored with him. He transforms into a different person when he's with Vera. Mia, on the other hand, provided sweeter affection. She provides comfort though her hugs and cuddles. Whenever Vera cried, she'd search for her mom to soothe her.
Alex saw her daughter think, "Hmmmm, I love..... me."
Alex chuckled at her daughter's witty response, "That was a very good answer."
Just then Mia went out of the bathroom and went to her side of the bed. Vera came close to her like she always did.
"Let's sleep," Mia turned off their lamp and the darkness enveloped the room.
"Goodnight, mommy."
"Goodnight, baby," Mia kissed her and closed her eyes.
Vera was about to sleep but something suddenly bothered her. She turned to her dad and pulled his hand which caught Alex's attention, "Goodnight, Daddy."
"Goodnight, baby" Alex whispered.
"I love you and mommy."
Alex smiled, "We love you too, sweetie."
- The End -
A/N:
Just wanted to show you Alex and Mia as parents. I named their baby Vera because it means truth and faith.
I really thought hard about how I was going to end this story, and this is the best I could think of. Sorry to keep you waiting and sorry if this is lame. But this is the end and thanks for sticking with me <3
