"It's just the first pass." Tony said, him and Brooke helping with Rhodey's physical therapy.

"Yeah."

"Give us some feedback; anything you think of." Tony said, referring to the leg braces he and Brooke made for their best friend. "—shock absorption; lateral movement; cup holder?"

"You may wanna think about some AC down in—" Rhodey started before he fell, the two helping to lower him down gently.

"Let's go." Brooke said softly, she and Tony holding their hands out for the colonel. "We'll give you a hand."

"No. Don't help me." Rhodey said, flipping himself around so he was sitting. "—a hundred and thirty eight combat missions. That's how many I've flown, guys. Every one of them could've been my last, but I flew them; because the fight needed to be fought." Rhodey explained as he looked at his best friends, who nodded with understanding. "It's the same with these Accords. I signed because it was the right thing to do. Yeah, this sucks." Rhodey agreed as he nodded to his leg braces, referring to his paralysis. "This is a bad beat, but it hasn't changed my mind. I don't think."

Brooke gave Rhodey a small smile before she and Tony helped him up, Rhodey leaning on their shoulders to steady himself. "You okay?"

"Oh yeah."

The siblings gave nods of acknowledgment before the FedEx delivery man knocked on the window, gaining their attention. "Are you Tony and Brooklyn—?—Stank?"

"Yes, this is Tony and Brooklyn Stank. You're in the right place. Thank you for that!" Rhodey called as he looked at the man, waving in gratitude before he looked at his best friends. "Never dropping that by the way. Table for two, Mr. and Ms. Stank. Please!—by the bathroom." Rhodey mocked playfully as he used the beam to walk away, making Brooke and Tony laugh.

"Doll, I'm glad you're with Tony at the compound; I'm just glad you're not at the penthouse by yourself. We all need family, sweetheart. The Avengers are yours; maybe more so than mine. I've been on my own since I was eighteen. I never really got in anywhere—even in the army—except when I was with you. My faith's in people I guess; individuals. I'm happy to say for the most part, they haven't let me down, which is why I can't let them down either. Locks can be replaced, but maybe they shouldn't. I know I hurt you, doll. I kept a secret from you when we promised we weren't gonna keep secrets from each other. By not telling you about your parents, I thought I was protecting you, but I was really protecting myself. I know I should've told you. Hopefully you can forgive me one day, baby. I wish we agreed on the Accords. I really do. I know you're doing what you believe in; and that's all any of us can do. That's all any of us should." Brooke started to read the letter Steve sent her after she retreated to her office, an announcement from Friday interrupting her.

"Priority call from Secretary Ross." Friday announced, making Brooke look up. "There's been a breach at the Raft prison."

Brooke wore a small, knowing smirk as she leaned back. "Yeah, put him through."

"Brooklyn, we have a problem." Ross informed after Friday patched the call.

"Please hold!"

"No, don't—!" Ross started to warn before Brookr put the call on hold, leaning back triumphantly.

"Don't worry about me, doll. I'll be fine. I promise that if you ever need me, I'll be there. I'll see you soon. I love you.

Stevie."
