"How bad is it?" Fury asked after he and Hill got out of the helicopter.

"That's the problem, sir. We don't know." Coulson said with a small sigh as he took his sunglasses off. "Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from the Tesseract four hours ago." Coulson explained as he and Maria walked with Fury.

"Nasa didn't authorize Selvig to pull the test phase." Fury reminded as he looked at the agent.

"He wasn't testing it. He wasn't even in the room. Spontaneous event." Coulson said before Fury looked at him.

Maria looked at both men confusedly before voicing her thoughts. "It just turned itself on?"

"What are the energy levels now?" Fury asked as he looked at Coulson.

"Climbing. When Selvig couldn't shut it down, we ordered the evac." Coulson said.

"How long to get everyone out?"

"Campus should be clear in the next half hour." Coulson said before Fury glanced at him.

"Do better." Coulson nodded at Fury's words before walking off.

"Sir, evacuation maybe futile." Maria said as she followed Fury down the steps.

"We should tell them to go back to sleep?" Fury asked as he glanced at her.

"If we can't control the Tesseract's energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance." Maria said warily.

"I need you to make sure that the Phase Two prototypes are shipped out." Fury said, Maria sending him another confused look.

"Sir, is that really a priority right now?" Maria asked before Fury turned around.

"Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on. Clear out the tech below. Every piece of Phase Two on a truck and gone." Fury ordered, Maria sighing slightly as she sent him a nod.

"Yes, sir." Maria glanced at the two guards as she walked by them. "With me."

"Talk to me, Doctor." Fury said after he walked into the chamber.

"Director."

Fury sent Selvig a nod as he walked over. "Is there anything we know for certain?"

"The Tesseract is misbehaving." Selvig said as a scientist tried to run some tests.

"Is that supposed to be funny?"

"No, it's not funny at all. The Tesseract is not only active; she's behaving." Selvig said with a worried sigh.
