shield helicarrier"In case it's unclear—" Fury started after the guards locked Loki up, "—you try to escape—you so much as scratch that glass—" Fury continued, opening the shaft below the cage, "—it's thirty thousand feet, straight down in a steel trap. You get how that works? Ant. Boot." Fury said, motioning from the container to the monitor.
"It's an impressive cage." Loki said with a chuckle, glancing around. "Not built—I think—for me."
"Built for something a lot stronger than you."
"I've heard." Loki said with a smirk, looking at the cameras around. "The mindless beast. Makes play to be the man. How desperate are you? You call on these lost creatures to defend you."
"How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control. You talk about peace and you kill because it's fun." Fury reminded, walking closer to the cage. "You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did."
"Ooh. It burns you to come so close; to have the Tesseract; to have power—unlimited power—and for what?—a warm light for all mankind to share and then to be reminded what real power is." Loki said, looking from the cameras to Fury.
Fury stared at the god before turning around, heading for the door. "Well, let me know if real power wants a magazine or something."
Bruce glanced at the team, watching as Brooke walked in after the footage cut off. "He really grows on you, doesn't he?"
"Loki's gonna drag this out." Steve said, standing up and letting Brooke have his seat. Brooke gave him a small smile as she sat down, her brown eyes glancing over to Thor. "So Thor, what's his play?"
"He has an army called the Chitauri." Thor said, coming back from his disassociation. "They're not of Asgard nor any world know. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth in return—I suspect—for the Tesseract."
"An army from outer space." Steve said, glancing around the table. "That's new."
"So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for." Brooke said, gaining Thor's attention.
"Selvig?"
Brooke looked at the god, giving him a nod. "He's an astrophysicist."
"He's a friend."
"Loki has him under some kind of spell along with one of ours." Natasha clarified with a sigh as she looked away.
"I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here." Steve said, looking at Bruce.
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki." Bruce said, shaking his head as he fiddled with his glasses. "That guy's brain is a bag full of cats. You could smell crazy on him."
