"I think I want a tattoo," I mumble quietly, tracing my finger over one of the swallows on Harry's chest.
I'd come over this morning after I submitted my paper. As promised, I was all his this weekend. His birthday was yesterday and we'd gone out to eat last night, but having me over all weekend was what he wanted so here I am. I'd brought him breakfast from a place down the street that we've gone to a few times, as well as some coffee from his favorite coffee shop. We'd been laid in his bed since I came over.
"Yeah?" Harry smiles softly. "One for your mum?"
I glance up to meet his gentle stare, nodding my head. "Am I really that predictable that you knew what I would want?"
He laughs lightly. "You're not predictable, Kait. I just happen to know you really well by now."
"Hm. Well, I was thinking about getting her birthday in roman numerals right here," I point at the inside of my wrist.
"I can take you if you want."
"Probably can't do it without you. If Erin came and I made her hold my hand or something she'd make fun of me for being a baby," I laugh lightly. "And I'm a loser so I don't have any other friends to drag along."
Harry rolls his eyes at me. "You're not a loser. You just don't actively try to talk to people, therefore you don't make friends."
I pull the blanket up over my head to hide. "I feel so attacked by that statement and the truth in it."
Instead of taking the blanket away from my face like he usually does, Harry brings himself down under the blanket too.
"Having only a few friends isn't a bad thing. Especially when those few friends are your best friends."
I cuddle up to him and kiss his collar bone.
"Sometimes I wonder where I'd be if I hadn't pushed all of my friends away when I was younger," I tell him quietly. "I don't know if I would've ended up coming to California for college. But I didn't feel like there was anything keeping me there when it came down to choosing a college. Other than my family, that is."
Harry pulls the blanket back so our heads aren't under it anymore. "You really don't have any friends back at home?"
"I guess there were some people that I occasionally hung out with in high school, but I haven't talked with them since graduation other than small talk over social media here and there. I feel like everybody saw me as a lost cause after I pushed so many people away. There was a girl who I grew up with who was my best friend up until second semester of freshman year, but she moved away and we lost touch."
"Hm. First of all, you're not a lost cause and I doubt people thought that. Second of all, I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. If you hadn't come here, you wouldn't have Erin. And... and I wouldn't be in your life. But the universe knew we needed each other."
I smile at him and he smirks a little.
"I swear if you call me a sap right now," he starts. "I'm gonna-"
"What? What are you gonna do? Break up with me?"
A scream of shock escapes my lips as Harry quickly throws his entire body up over me so I'm completely trapped under him. "That depends," he hums before reaching down and kissing my neck gently. "What'd you get me for my birthday?"
"Well, if I'm honest, part of your present is under my dress right now," I mumble in response.
Harry lifts his head from my neck and his eyebrows quirk up as he looks at me with a smirk. "Oh? When do I get to unwrap it?"
